MASS SCHEDULE & INTENTIONS
FROM OUR PASTOR
I do hope that you will continue to have a wonderful Christmas Season! On this 6th Day of Christmas we celebrate the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Whether you have an extended family of 100 or are a family of 1, may these days be filled with peace and hope. Remember our Holy Day Mass-es on Monday, December 31st at 6:30 pm and Tuesday,
January 1st at 10 am as we celebrate the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. This day is always celebrated on the Octave (the 8th Day) of Christmas.
On the 11th Day of Christmas, January 4th, there will be a special prayer day at Ss. Peter & Paul Ca-thedral with a relic of Saint Jean Vianney. I hope you will be able to spend some time that day at the Cathedral, or elsewhere, to pray for vocations to the priesthood, and to pray for our seminarians and priests.
On the 12th Day of Christmas, Janu-ary 5th, our 8 am Mass will be for Saint John Neumann, a pioneer priest and bishop in New York and P e n n s y l v a n i a d u r i n g t h e 1800’s. We will also have our Rosary at 8:30 am and Confes-sions. Celebrate the 12th Day of Christmas with prayer and the Sacraments.
Don’t forget to sign up for The Mass program-we start next week!

It is a wonderful 1 ½ hour get-away for those giving care to others (spouses, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, friends, etc.). We meet on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00 am in the Courtesy Room to share our problems and feelings with those who are in the same situation. All conversations are confiden-tial. Coffee and breakfast treats make the meet-ing more enjoyable. Our next meeting is on Satur-day, January 5, at 9:00 am. We would love to have you join us. THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IN SOLIDARITY WITH OUR PRIESTS
Journey through Scripture is the St. Paul Center’s dynamic Bible study program designed to help ordinary Catholics grow in their knowledge of the Scriptures while deepening their understanding of the riches of our faith. Distinctively Catholic, Journey through Scripture reads the Bible from the heart of the Church, engaging both the Old and New Testaments and how they work togeth-er. It’s grounded in history, yet actively engages topics faced by today’s Catholic. More than just an ordinary Bible study, it’s biblical catechesis.
The Bible and the Virgin Mary is a dynamic twelve-part video series that beautifully explains the Catholic truths about Our Lady, showing how she has been a part of God’s plan to bring salvation to the world since the begin-ning of time. In addition to explanation of dogmas, answers to common objections, and demonstration of Mary’s presence in the Old and New Testaments, this study discusses Church-approved Marian apparitions that play an important role in Catholic Tradition. It’s sure to help Catholics and non-Catholics alike grow in an understand-ing and appreciation of the Mother of God.
Log into www.Formed.Org. Our parish code is 6ZRXBF. Or go to our own Formed page at ss-fc.Formed.org.
8 December 30, 2018 The Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph
The Bible Timeline Study will be offered at Ss. Francis and Clare of Assisi Parish starting Sat., January 12, 2019, from 9 am to 10:30 am on the second through the possible fifth Saturday of each month in the Courtesy Room. There are 24 sessions in this study which will be accompanied by Jeff Cavin’s CD’s. Participants will need a Bible. A Catholic Catechism is useful but not necessary.
There is a study set available for purchase on the Ascension Press website, Ascensionpress.com at around $38.60, which includes the ability to view a video of the session online but the CD’s each week in class are perfectly adequate for the study. The set also includes questions, answers, and an outline of the provided CD. The Bible Timeline Study Set may also be available at Amazon but without the video benefit. If you do not wish to purchase these materials, you can still follow the suggested readings with a provided list. Please register by signing up in the Ss. Francis and Clare of Assisi office, or by calling (317)726-6389.

WELCOME 2.0 RETREATS
Beginning January 1, 2019 we will be temporarily suspending our recycling program here at Ss. Francis and Clare of Assisi Church. The following concerns have been raised by parishioners:
· Community members filling the recycling bins, not allowing school and parish recycling to occur · Recycling materials, and of note broken glass, not being placed in the bins, but on the ground and driveway · Trash being placed in the recycling bins · Location of the bins is:
¨ Unsightly for neighbors ¨ Unsafe for small children playing on the playground
The Parish Facilities and Grounds Committee and the Parish Staff have struggled for three years to find solutions for these problems. We hope, as good stewards of God’s creation, to recycle in the future, but a solution that will
solve all of the above issues needs to be found. If you might have thoughts of how to solve these concerns, please e-mail Father Giannini at [email protected].

A simple thank you does not seem adequate to express our gratefulness and appreciation of all that you have done for the school, ECM, parents, students and fellow staff members. Saying goodbye won’t be easy, especial-ly to someone that has been such a valuable part of the success of the Early Childhood Ministry. Your smiling face and warm demeanor each day will be missed.
