This journey takes us to two of New Zealand’s most stunning “forgotten” destinations. Ruapehu’s largest town, Taumarunui, is where we experience the sights of the Forgotten World as we head by rail cart through 10 unique tunnels deep in a region where both civilisation and glory have long faded. Continuing on, we travel upstream by jetboat into the middle reaches of the Whanganui River and walk the Bridge to Nowhere, with time spent taking in that feeling of time standing still.

EAST COAST EXPLORER : 9-day hosted tour

The dramatic coastal drive from Napier, through Gisborne to Hicks Bay is a journey of beauty as we discover the East Cape. Visit Morere Hot Springs and Eastwood Hill Arboretum, our largest Pohutukawa tree and East Cape lighthouse. Return via Whakatane to Napier. Visit the Hawkes Bay Farmers market, walking tour of Art Deco quarter, dinner at Mission Estate. Home via Norsewood, Mangatainoka Pub and Martinborough.

Visit New Zealand’s Army Museum at Waiouru. Drive across the Central Plateau over the Gentle Annie through the Kaweka Forest to Art Deco Napier. Visit the Prison and the Museum of Technology (Faraday Centre), Dinner at Mission Estate. Visit to Napier Botanical Gardens, Marine Parade Gardens and National Aquarium. ENCHANTING FAR NORTH : 11-day hosted tour

Journey north with us to the beautiful Bay of Islands and the untouched region of Cape Reinga, rich in culture, tradition and blessed with breath-taking coastal views, native landscapes and rolling countryside. Driving along the coastline on Ninety Mile Beach is sure to be a highlight, as we explore the region from west coast to east coast along with some wonderful stopovers along the way.
