Deputy Regional Director Visit Last Tuesday we had the pleasure of showing the NEVR Deputy Regional Director, Mr Bob Stephens, around our wonderful school. It is always such a pleasure to highlight all that we do at LPPS. Mr Stephens was impressed by our aerobics performances and the friendliness of our students and teachers.

Woolworths Earn and Learn It is that time of the year again when Woolworths run their Earn and Learn program. Its easy to get involved:

Shop at Woolworths and youll get 1 Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 you spend.

Stick them onto a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet. You can pick one up from any Woolworths store.

Once youve filled your Sticker Sheet, pop it into the Collection Box in front of the school office. The more stickers we collect the more learning resources we can obtain. Thank you for your help with this worthwhile program.

Working Bee Thanks A big thank you to the people who attended our emergency working bee last Sunday. A great deal of work was done to prepare the terraced area behind the portable rooms, in readiness for asphalt.

Andrew Smith and the Buildings and Grounds committee have been working hard to ensure that all areas of the school have well surfaced/ safe areas to walk/ run/ play. This area was a priority due to the loose gravel that appeared every time it rained.

Thanks to our hard working parent volunteers, this problem will be fixed in the very near future!

Aerobics Movie Night A reminder to please return notices and payment for our Aerobics Movie Night on Friday 31

st July. This is our only major

fundraiser for our two Aerobics teams, Secret Weapon and Ultra Sparks, as they head off for the Nationals in Queensland on August 15th. It is always a fun night so please come along and support our Aerobics teams.

Last Friday it was lovely to be greeted by so many excited smiles as the children came to school eager for the 9.00 bell to ring, as this meant that it wouldnt be long before the ALPHA Show began. The ALPHA Show is always a favourite with students and teachers. This year the show centered on the theme of Beauty and the Beast. Alphas Beauty and the Beast combines all that is loved about the classic fairytale. It also encourages everyone to have fun as well as learn the process of truly believing in yourself.

Our school has been lucky enough to host the ALPHA Show on an annual basis. Next years date has already been secured, to ensure that we dont miss out.

The media team took some great photos, which are included in this weeks newsletter.

Much of the rubbish that we generate and send to landfill comes from the food we buy; lunch foods are no exception.

In fact, it has been estimated that on average a school-age child using a disposable lunch generates three pieces of litter per day, which equates to 30 kg of waste per year. This

works out to be about 7.5 tonnes of waste produced by a school of 250 students each year from lunch boxes alone!

Based around the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) - litter free lunches (also known as nude food) are lunches that contain food items with no disposable packaging or single use items, such as pre-packaged foods, plastic bags, juice poppers, bottled water, disposable utensils, plastic straws or food wrapped in cling wrap or foil.

Next month we are excited to be taking steps to turn LPPS into a Nude Food school. This aligns with our ongoing commitment to sustainability. Nude Food involves fresh, healthy and rubbish free snacks and lunches. To avoid the use of packaging and wrappers, compartmented lunchboxes and washable containers make great alternatives to cling film. Our Sustainability team has been discussing ways to reduce packaging and wrapping (therefore reducing rubbish), and have come up with the idea of Nude Food

    lunches.

Starting in August, we are encouraging Nude Food Wednesdays. As our school community becomes accustomed to Nude Food we will be increasing the days that we are

involved. We appreciate the support and involvement of our LPPS community in working to make Nude Food lunches a reality.

We have Community groups, Animals, Art show, Food and more being organised but we always need some more hands to help. That is why we are putting a call out for any 'Barista' trained parents to volunteer some time on the
