2. Parish priests are requested to open a bank account for the parish and hereafter should not give liquid cash more than Rs. 9000/- for one person be given for a day. (Please give Cheque). Please come and collect documents from the procurator's office to open a bank account. By the end of September all should open the bank account and report to the Bishop when you come for the recollection in October.
Medical FundWe distributed medical help of Rs. 5000/- each to parishioners of Villoony, Walayar and
Sayathurai(total Rs. 15000/-) in the month of August 2018.

Flood Havoc in Our DioceseAn unusual flood situation occurred in Palakkad district,
Kerala and especially in our diocese where our Catholics live. After ninety four years people experience such a rainfall and flood. It was very unprecedented and heavy to control. Normally, we do not have much rain here; so the people are not prepared to face such a heavy rain and flood. Many people have lost their household articles and some have lost their houses. A lot of people in this district,
especially, in Attapady, Puduseery, Vadakarapathy, Malampuzha, Chittur and Eruthenpathy panjayats are very badly affected. A lot of people do not have any work because of the continuous rain. So, their

Bishop blessed and laid the foundation stone for the chapel cum community hall at Nellipathy (Attapady) at 3 pm on Sunday 12 August. Fr. Antony, sj, the new parish priest and the DSS sisters organized it. In the feast mass that followed the blessing Bishop gave First Communion to 10 children.

daily livelihood is very much affected. Ninety one houses are completely damaged, 625
houses are partially damaged and most of the household articles are damaged; their farm land is very much affected. Also more than 3,000 hectares of crops are destroyed. They even lack healthy drinking water. Daily wages for
thousands of people are lost; they find no jobs at the moment. A lot of local roads are very much damaged and people find much difficulty in travelling through these
damaged roads. Also some water ponds are d a m a g e d a n d t h e reserving of the rain water is not possible unless these ponds are set right.
In this situation, we distributed 1300 food kits to the affected people. Our volunteers help the affected families
to clean the houses. We are also supporting the nearby affected Diocese like Kotapuram, Verapoli, Kottayam, Vijapuram& Kozhikode.We
d i s t r i b u t e d immediately some food articles and clothing materials as relief for these people. Our gratitude goes to the Diocese of Coimbatore who sent food and cloth materials to distribute to the flood victims in our diocese. We w i s h t o t h a n k
Madha TV which facilitated the donors to send some help for this relief work. We thank all the donors who were very generous towards these suffering people.
