Issue #14 Februaury 2018
NEWS Bright and early on Monday, February 19th TRIO SSS students loaded a bus at 6:00am to head to Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Director of Graduate Admissions, Todd Eicker, gave TRIO students a wonderful informational presentation about graduate school, how to apply and what graduate school is like at Duquesne. After the presentation students took a tour on campus and broke up into groups to focus on what graduate school would be like for the stu-dents specific major. At the end of the long day TRIO SSS students loaded up the bus and headed to Newark, New Jersey for the night. On Tuesday, February 20th students boarded a train and headed to New York City. Our first stop was at the Empire State Building. Although it was a cloudy day TRIO SSS Students still had a blast. Following the Empire State Building, TRIO walked to Ellen’s Stardust Diner where they en-joyed the festivities of eating food and watching waiters and waitresses sing. Watching future Broadway stars sing and dance on tables was a great afternoon. Afterwards, students broke into smaller groups for sightseeing in Times Square! To end the night TRIO SSS ate John’s Pizzeria before loading up the bus and heading back to EMU.
NYC Graduate Tour
This year, TRIO
SSS students
decided they
wanted to ven-
ture off and
start their own
student organi-
zation! With the
help from TRIO
SSS MSW In-
tern, Naelah Burks, and Program Assistant, Denise
Hubbard, (as their Advisor), they were able to make
this happen in a few short months.
