We are excited to launch our upgraded website which showcases our process, projects and services.

With the revamping of our website, we added many more photos to illustrate how we do things and to showcase our commercial and residential projects.

We explain our process, starting with the design of the garden and carrying through the installation and maintenance of your garden after the project is completed.

With each client, FGC starts with the initial conversation to discuss the scope of the project and develop a design proposal. Created within a courtyard at the Women and Children’s Pavil-lion at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, the Fockele Garden Company designed and built the Pope Family Garden.“The terrarium-like setting and atmosphere drove the design,” said Mark Fockele, co-owner of Fockele Garden Company.“It includes lush vegetation – particularly plants with big, bold, dramatic foliage.”

The garden features a human-sized frog that sits ona bench a few feet away from a small wooden book box in the shape of a house that serves asa children’s library. Children can sit next to the frog on the bench and read a book when theyvisit the garden.

The therapeutic garden is accessed from the Women and Children’s Pavilion located in the South Patient Tower. A centerpiece fountain of sculptured callalilies is surrounded by benches, tables, and chairsfor adults and children. Small animal sculptures arehidden among the garden plants, and are the questof a game to search for the animals. The frog, calla lily fountain and the scavenger hunt animals were designed and fabricated by Andrew T. Crawford Ironworks.

Surrounding buildingsenclose the garden andcreate a terrarium-likeclimate. Exotic plants thrive, and visitors enjoy a space that is protected from wind, and where they can find shade under the mature bigleaf magnolias, or beneath the planted arbor.

The enclosure also secures the garden for parents and their children, allowing them to enjoy a safe space to relax and play.

The garden has multiple layers with lots of variety, from the ground to the tree tops. The forty-foot magnolia trees were planted by Fockele Garden Company during the construction phase, while most of the garden details were still conceptual.

Situated within a courtyard, the Pope

Family Garden has a terrarium feel.

BEAUTIFUL STREAM CREATED TO CONTROL STORM WATER

An interesting and demanding project in Huntsville has kept us busy now for over a year: building a 1,000-foot stream with waterfalls and ponds.

The watercourse is intended in part to slow and infiltrate storm water that enters the property from off site, and to reduce erosion caused by thatoff-site water.

Another project goal is to create a beautiful landscape feature by making the stream look as natural as possible. This is accomplished through the stone selection and placement, and in the native plants chosen and how they are arranged. Yellowroot, Bigleaf Magnolia, Beautyberry and PawPaw arejust a few of the native plants that have been chosen to create a setting for the stream and ponds that mimics those seen in the region.

With projects like this one in Alabama, we include sustainable elements that conserve water, and also provide attractive environments. We place a major emphasis on rain water harvesting and storm water management techniques to decrease erosion and supply irrigation.

Storm water management designs can be functional and beautiful.

AFTER: Flags mark the locations where over 2,000 plants will create a riparian edge that will fi lter storm water that fl ows into the stream. The stream terminates in a reed pond that will be fi lled with water plants increasing the bio-fi ltration as the water fi nally cascades over a series of drops and into a 3-acre lake. Water is pumped from the lake up to the “source” pond, a distance of 1,000 feet.

IN OUR CLIENT’S WORDS

THE ARTISTIC TALENT BEHINDOUR NATURAL WATER FEATURESJose Perez is the artist behind many of our recent natural water features. He has been a member of our team since 2012.

Soon after becoming a crew leader in 2014, he emerged as our master pond, stream and waterfall construction specialist under the direction and mentoring of Mark Fockele.

His first big project was creating the recirculating stream, water-falls, and ponds at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in Gainesville. He spent many months constructing the 1,000-foot cascading stream featured here.

Creative, Dependable and Professional. Three words to describe what it’s like working with Julie Evans and the staff at Fockele Garden Company. Fockele has been Mincey’s landscaping partner for close to ten years. They do a magnificent job of creating, designing and maintaining all of the landscaping at our current facilities. They also handle our irrigation requirements as well.Everything from installing new lines, tomaintaining the current system which includesa well, water tank and the associated pumps.

On our property we are fortunate to have one of the largest old growth trees (180-220 years old) in the county. Last year we had some concerns about the health of the tree. Fockele was able to find us a nationally known arborist who was able to come out to our site, examine the tree and provide us with a number of recommendations that we implemented to pro-tect the tree for future generations. This is just one example of Fockele’s excellent customer service. They listen to our needs and come up with a solution every time.

In 2018, we will be moving into our new 380,000 sq. ft. production/office complex. Fockele was one of the first contractors to provide us with a design, plans and a cost estimate for their part of the project. We have already contracted with them to handle all of our landscaping andirrigation needs for the new site.

You really can’t miss with Fockele.
