20 year-old Belgian driver Thierry Neuville was able to contest the Rallye Epernay-Vins de Champagne thanks to the combined efforts of the RACB (Royal Automobile Club de Belgique) and Citroën Racing. Neuville possesses just a single season’s experience in rallying, and drove a Citroën C2-R2 MAX provided by Citroën Racing: "Thanks to Citroën, the RACB and Yves Matton, I was able to visit the workshops in Satory. Then, I completed a test session at the track nearby where I worked with an engineer for the first time. It was a fantastic experience. He was able to set up the C2-R2 MAX exactly how I wanted, and the rally went well too." This successful operation marked progress towards organising the Citroën Racing Trophy Belux along the same lines as the series run in Poland, Portugal and the UK. Six rounds are scheduled, the fi rst being the Rallye de Wallonie (April 24-26).

Citroën Racing is running a range of technical training courses with a view to sharing the company’s extensive experience of motor sport with those who run Citroën rally cars. "These training courses are tailored to further enhance the technical skills of the mechanics who work in our dealerships or in race teams," explains Customer Competition Technical Manager Alexis Avril. "This will help us to spread the technical language we use at Satory. We will also save time when it comes to diagnosing solutions and communicating the right set-ups." To enable as many people as possible to benefi t from its expertise, Citroën Racing offers ‘à la carte’ training. "Those who are interestedwill be able to choose from several options," continues Alexis Avril. "Courses range from two days to a week or a fortnightand will include a general approach to motor sport and mechanical matters. Then, depending on the selected course, the hands-on part might consist of building a car in the company of a technician, or a test session. My view is that the ideal solution includes three stages: the theory, a practical element in the workshop, then its application during a test session." The fi rst courses will begin during the middle part of the year.

"Recent testing and running on both types of surface with the C2-R2 MAX have enabled us to make further improvements to its handling," explained Customer Competition Technical Manager Alexis Avril. "We have succeeded in optimising performance thanks to some fine-tuning adjustments to the set-up. It’s simply a question of geometry. We found some small performance gains with changes to the ride height, camber and toe-in. We can now pass these solutions on to our customers."
