A blessed Holy Week to all! This is the week that makes all other weeks possible for us and all Christians around the world. From Palm Sunday through Easter morning we gather to learn, break bread, worship, weep, wait, and celebrate. Holy Week is packed with emotion and opportunities to turn our hearts and minds toward the Lord. Holy Week is our chance to seek God and to embrace the gift of grace we have in Christ. On Thursday at 7pm we will join the Centenary United Methodist congregation for worship in their beautiful sanctuary, as we are joined with a spirit of thanksgiving, our choirs will sing together, and we will share communion together. On Good Friday at noon in our sanctuary will be a Tenebrae service, a time of Scripture and meditation on all that happened on that day which our Lord was crucified. Saturday we pray and wait, and then Easter Sunday we rejoice in the raising of the Christ with a sunrise communion service at 7am in the courtyard, we will then gather again at 11am for our traditional communion service in the sanctuary. I hope that you can be at many if not all of the services planned for this most special of Christian Seasons! Let us gather together and proclaim that we are a family of faith, waiting, praying, and suffering together, so that we can then lift our hearts and voices together shouting Hallelujah -We are a people of Hope - We are an Easter People! Peace and Grace to all, Chris

The Lenten Season

Each Wednesday during the Lenten Season we enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by Pam Hollingsworth and a Short Lesson based on “The Way” Walking in the Footsteps of Jesus by Adam Hamilton. Spencer Bennett, Sheryl Hinson, Rick Keyser, Randy Pople, Bill Mock, and Ben Powell helped us retrace the footsteps of Jesus across Israel and Palestine.

Spring has sprung, but hopefully the cool weather will stick around for a little while. Easter and Spring Break are behind us and we have lots going on in the next few weeks and months.

We begin with Easter on April Fool’s! Not an April Fool at all- no kidding taking place that day!! There were probably many that thought that people were kidding when they talked about Christ’s resurrection!

On Thursday, April 12th Route 456 will be going on their annual bike ride down the St. Mark’s trail. We will leave right after school and return by 6 PM. Please bring bikes and helmets to the church on the 11th so that Mr. Dan can trailer them down for us.

The Confirmation Class will go to Miss Alice’s river house on April 21st for some fun and to spend time together writing their faith statements before joining the church on Mother’s Day- May 13th.

“Come See Columbia Day” is Thursday, April 26th. Tamra Erde will be installed as President that day and a group is planning to go. We will leave on Wednesday, April 25th, spend the night at the seminary and return following the installation on Thursday.

Lastly, I MUST mention that our intern, Lauren Scott will be finishing her internship with us the end of April. Lauren has been a valuable asset to our programs here at the church and to me. We will miss her next year but wish her the best as she embarks on her next journey. She will be attending Columbia Theological Seminary next fall! I’m very proud of her and know she will do wonderful things wherever she ends up! Godspeed Lauren!
