VOICES OF SECONDARY RADIO Steve Shettler KBOE/Oskaloosa, IA "

Tell us about your station KBOE is a locally owned radio station in southeast Iowa. We're 50,000 watts of hot country hits! We also carry NASCAR, the Iowa Hawkeyes football and basketball, our local university - William Penn football and basketball, and our very own Oskaloosa Indians sports teams. "What is your Playlist Mindset? If you're on my playlist, you're a pretty good song, and you're doing well on the charts. KBOE has a daily New Music Challenge that I use to test out every song before it goes on my playlist. I've had some total unknowns come out of nowhere to win 5 in a row and get an automatic spot on my playlist. Every once in a while, if a song really grabs my attention, I will go with my gut and add it early. "Why is it important to report to MusicRow? It gives us a sense of pride belonging to a group of some of the best smaller market stations in the country! It's great to talk to the record promoters on a weekly basis and to have access to most of the major record labels, whether it be giveaways, interviews, etc.. "Who are some of your favorite New Artists? Newer artists that excite me are The Cadillac Three, Clare Dunn, and Chris Weaver Band.

NO. 1 SONG "Wasn’t it just a few days ago Brad Paisley was debuting his single “River Bank” on the ACM Awards? Oh right, those aired in April. In the past 11 weeks, this Arista Nashville star raised the title up the mast of MusicRow’s CountryBreakout Chart where it sits today, at the No. 1 spot. Writers, Paisley and Kelley Lovelace, sure know the appeal of water. The two hit-men teamed with Chris DuBois to “drive until the map turns blue,” in the 2010 splash, “Water.” This year the aqua boys are turning the tunes toward the h2o, again with "River Bank." If you’re willing to part from the shoreline this summer to catch a show, Paisley will be passing through cities through November on his KRAFT Cheese-sponsored, Country Nation World Tour. Otherwise, if you have cable on the lake, Paisley will premiere as a “celebrity expert” this Sunday (June 22) on ABC-TV’s latest singing competition Rising Star. That is, if he doesn’t head out on another secret mission with the President on Air Force One. ""
