It was also uploaded to the newsletter section of the school’s website. School Development Day today began with a livestream from the Department of Education, which was followed by a livestream from Dr Andrew Fraser entitled ‘Overcoming struggle and uncertainty’. A session was devoted to working through the Premier’s guidelines to create a model/rostered timetable for our students to attend school one day per week from week 3. Work will continue on this throughout the week. The resultant model/ roster will be communicated to you via email on Monday 4 May (week 2), in readiness for the Phase 1 implementation, in week 3. Plans will be adjusted if needed, based upon new advice from the DoE or NSW Health.

Phase 0: Learning from Home continues in weeks 1 and 2: with a weekly overview of activities to support continuity of learning for all of our students. Learning is consistent across both the home and school contexts. Class teachers are checking in with their students via email and/or phone, so our one phone line may be busy at times. The school provides a weekly overview of learning; offering a range of hands-on activities, digital platforms and online resources, delivered via email or hard copy, as per last term.

Digital online platforms:

Google Classroom affords Stage One students to learn of digital literacy and digital citizenship, via Visual Arts. Many schools use Google Classroom for Years 3 -6, so this is an opportunity for our students to familiarise themselves in preparation for primary school. When going on the K-2 student portal, students must agree to the conditions of use: No, Go, Tell, which links to our Child Protection syllabus. The portal offers a way for your child to stay connected to their class peers via google classroom or through their student email. As always, parents are to remain vigilant when students are on the net, even via the Department’s student portal, as you will not have the same firewall and security at home. Thank you to Aleksandar and Caitlin whose excellent rag rugs are displayed below.

Seesaw K-2 classes KG and 1/2H will be utilising Seesaw in their weekly unit of learning this term. Seesaw may be used on an ipad, tablet, laptop or computer. Your class teacher will be sending home your child’s Seesaw home learning code.

Term 2 students’ books Teachers are contacting parents/caregivers to organise collection of students’ books, for use at home. As part of that package there will be home readers. We ask that you return all books to school with your child on their rostered one day a week, in week 3. Once students are in school one day a week (week 3), they will be able to borrow a library book on their day and change their home readers on that day. More information about week 3 will be available on Monday 4 May, when you will receive your child’s rostered day. Library books Please return any overdue Library books when you collect your child’s books. Welcome two new students to Kindergarten! We welcome Verity and Delilah to Kindergarten officially to our school community this term. I know students in Kindergarten will be keen to meet them. Welcome!

Scholastic Book Club Please see the link to view Scholastic virtual book catalogue https://scholastic.com.au/book-club/virtual-catalogue-1/ The means of ordering books remains the same. Closing date for orders is by Monday 18 May. Students will be given their orders when they attend school on their rostered day, from week 3 onwards. Engraved personalised pavers The school offers parents the opportunity to purchase a personalised paver to be placed in the school grounds. The cost of the paver is $40. If you are interested please see the school office for more information about payment, the paperwork and templates that need to be completed prior to the order being placed. Kind regards Jo Fulham Principal
