Bass, Tony Watson, was born to choir members Austin and Millie Watson and has been surrounded by HPPC music his entire life (even prenatally.) Tony made his way through HPPC’s children’s choirs, youth choir and Chancel Choir. Highlights were singing in an All-City children’s choir in a performance of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the DSO, and youth choir trips to Florida and Estes Park, CO, not to mention all the trips the Chancel Choir has taken over the years. Tony worked for the family’s electrical supply business for 33 years starting in the warehouse and truck driving during high school and college and finishing in corporate services. Tony is an active Rotarian, ( serving twice as his club’s president) and is a member of the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians (he is a professional pilot and flight instructor). Tony, an SMU graduate, married Jane, a UNT graduate in 1971 and the two have four children all married now. They are also the proud grandparents of three. Tony was baptized and married at HPPC both officiated by Dr. Elliott with Sam Parker playing the organ! When Tony was a soprano in the children’s choir, he had to learn how to whistle when Chancel Choir director Bill Tagg asked him to sing “I Whistle a Happy Tune” for a Sunday afternoon concert in the sanctuary. It’s never been done again since! SIGN UP TONIGHT
