Reminder

Dear Juniors and Seniors,

We have partnered with Career Services to give

our junior and senior majors access to Wildcat Joblink. Wildcat JobLink is a

state-of-the-art career management tool, offering UA students access to

jobs, internships, and a range of other services including campus interview-

ing and resume referrals.

To access JobLink, please visit the Career Services website at https://

www.career.arizona.edu/joblink. All you need is your NETID and password

to login and take advantage of these great services.

Why is SGPP only funding juniors and seniors to have access to JobLink?

The funding comes from SGPP Program Fees, which only our junior and sen-

ior majors pay. If you are a freshman or sophomore, you are welcome to

register and pay the annual $5 fee out of pocket. Visit https://

www.career.arizona.edu/joblink to register.

I will be a junior at the end of the current semester. When can I have ac-

cess?

SGPP will be requesting access for any students who have reached 60+ cred-

its each semester after the census date (the 21st day of the semester). So, if

you will have 60+ completed credits at the end of this semester, you will be

granted access next semester after the census date.

If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

The College of Science is seeking a preceptor(s) to assist our professor with SCI 201a - EdgeMakers Essentials for Higher Education: Creativity and Innovation, Storytelling and Changemaking.

Sci 201a is continuing to be offered this spring. (See the bottom of this message for SCI 201a description) To enhance this new classroom experience we are in search of a preceptor to assist the pro-fessor in facilitating the course. The ideal candidate should:

If this sounds like you, and if you are interested in learning more about this opportunity to help with SCI 201a, please email the instructor, Bob Messenger [email protected]).

· Interested students will meet with the professor to discuss the position and establish expectations for the fall semester.

· If selected you will be enrolled for SCI 491 or SCI 491H (if Honors) for 3 units of credit this fall.

· Duties and classroom responsibilities will take about 7-9 hours per week for 3 units of credit and will be negotiated with the professor.

SCI 201a description: “As we make the transition from the industrial to the innovation age, individuals, companies and even coun-tries now see their competitiveness in terms of a deep-seated ability to create new sources of value. The EdgeMakers curriculum addresses the gap between the desire for innovation and opportunities to learn how to “do” innovation, which is a complex phenomenon that blends disciplines and goes all the way from indi-vidual psychology to complex social dynamics. The curriculum is experiential and based on collaborative learning. This course links to purpose, exploits the value of digital technology, is founded on projects and cul-minating challenges, makes best use of in class time by flipping the classroom, provides access to a continu-ously updated knowledge base, and affords ample and diverse opportunities for feedback.”

RICHARD A. HARVILL GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP The mission of the Richard A. Harvill Endowment is to perpetuate knowledge of Dr.

international, who have completed a bachelor's degree at the UA in May 2016, have

an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher, and have been admitted to a PhD program

at the UA for Fall 2016. The Fellowship provides an annual stipend of $12,000,

disbursed in two equal payments between the fall and spring terms and a Graduate

Tuition Scholarship that covers base graduate level tuition (not the differential

tuition assessed by some programs) for each semester of award.

Out of the Vault-- Art Crime! The University of Arizona Museum of Art

It’s been thirty years since Willem de Kooning's Woman-Ochre was stolen from our Museum in broad daylight. It’s still missing, and the case is still open. In order to com-memorate the anniversary, we’re hosting a special art crime edition of Out of the Vault!

A special agent from the Art Crime Unit for the FBI will dis-cuss art crime today. Museum Curator Olivia Miller and Registrar Kristen Schmidt will present on the theft of the de Kooning and the Museum’s forgeries.

Get ready to investigate on November 5 at 5:00pm at the Museum.

The event is free for students, faculty, and staff.

“The Evolution of International Justice” Lecture by Amb. Clint Williamson Former US Ambassador for War Crimes and international war crimes prosecutor

Please register HERE to guarantee a seat After investigating crimes in the former Yugoslavia as an international prosecutor,

Clint Williamson went on to become the US Ambassador-at-Large for War Crimes Issues, tasked with monitoring situations of widespread atrocities and formulating

US policy to address those crimes worldwide. Over time, this role has increasingly

shifted focus from international prosecutions to a more diverse range of transitional justice mechanisms including international, hybrid, and domestic war crimes

tribunals. In other roles for the UN and US government, he has worked to support

domestic/hybrid mechanisms in Iraq and Kosovo, helping to build national capacity to deal with mass criminality following devastating conflicts. In his recent position as

the Chief Prosecutor of the Special Investigative Task Force, he led the investigation

into alleged crimes by Kosovo Albanians after the 1998-1999 conflict, including disappearances, detention and killing of ethnic minorities and political opponents.

Ambassador Williamson will address students on the evolution of international

justice, drawing on his experience and aspirations for the future.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Spring 2016 GRE Workshop Information The Graduate College encourages students to prepare for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) through formal or informal instruction and study. For those students seeking professional assistance, one option to consider is a work-shop led by Michael Flynn, Executive Director of Grad Pros Educational Consulting. Mr. Flynn has facilitated GRE workshops on the UA campus since 2000 and has received consistently positive feedback. Dates The Spring 2016 workshop is designed to be completed over 4 days. As new material is presented in each class, stu-dents need to commit to attending all four days of the workshop. The workshop is held on the UA campus.

* Saturday, February 13, 9am - 5pm * Sunday, February 14, 9am - 1pm * Saturday, March 12, 9am - 5pm * Sunday, March 13, 9am - 1pm There are three components to this workshop: 1. Practice tests: The course begins with a GRE practice test administered under simulated test conditions. Scores will be analyzed to determine areas of strength and weakness for each participant. One additional practice test will be taken in class, and another will be taken at home to familiarize students with the GRE's computer format. 2. Group instruction: Test-taking strategies for the quantitative, verbal and writing sections of the GRE will be cov-ered along with time management, stress/anxiety and other topics relating to test performance. Timed sections will be administered to assess individual strengths/weaknesses and to improve pacing. 3. Extra help from the instructor: The instructor, Michael Flynn, is Executive Director of Grad Pros Educational Con-sulting and former admissions committee member at Harvard University and the UCSD School of Medicine. Extra help will be available during and after the workshop. Cost The workshop is $300, which includes instruction, a GRE practice book and extra help during and after the workshop. Registration To request a seat in the workshop, please contact Michael Flynn by email: [email protected] (link sends e-mail)<mailto:[email protected]?subject=UA%20Fall%20GRE%20Workshop>. In addition to your full name and phone number, please include the following information about your affiliation with UA and your plans to take the GRE:
