PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
As we move into the cooler weather, I ask students
and parents/carers to be aware of the uniform
requirements at WWPS.
Students will want to wear warmer jumpers,
hoodies and coats. All of these are available for
purchase from Lowes or Hunters Newsagency in
school colours with our emblem on them. A few
beanies are available at the office. Navy blue
scarves are permitted. Please assist us to uphold
the wonderful uniform standard that we have set.
Please find enclosed in this newsletter information
on a Choral Camp available to students.
Good luck to all our sports representatives this
week-Athletics, Touch and Rugby League.
We welcome 3 CSU prac students to WWPS this
week. KE - Keith Finemore

Also an ex student Elisa Pevere returns for Work

There have been reports of Hand, Foot and Mouth

Chess is Back Yes! The NSW Primary Schools Competition has
begun again for 2013. This year WWPS has one
team of six keen players entered into the
Rookies league.
On Friday 17th May we played against Mater
Dei’s D team. Brendan Guise had a strong win;
Zac Morehouse and Tom Tough both had
stalemates for a draw. Our new team member,
Jay Gordon-King, played a really hard, long
match, which challenged his opponent right to
the final move, but unfortunately lost his first
competitive game.
Final score 2-2 a fair result for the new season.
Next Friday we travel to Kapooka PS for our
second round.
@ Learning Disposition:
RESILIENCE
Capacity:
NOTICING This involves perceiving subtle nuances, patterns and
details in experience.
When you use this learning muscle, you…
Notice how things look, what they are made of, how they
behave.
Are patient, knowing that details may take time to emerge.
Can identify significant detail.
Get a clear sense of what, before starting to think why or
how.
LANGUAGE TO ENCOURAGE NOTICING What do you notice about the way … is doing that?
What happened first/next?
What is this? Touch it, smell it, listen to it, look at it. What do you notice? What are your senses telling you?
Just watch/listen to this for a while. What happens? Wait a little longer. What’s happening now? Wait a little longer...
What do you think is the most important … in this picture/
diagram/article?
Let’s be patient a little longer and see what else we can notice about...
You’ve noticed a lot of important/significant things about...
Can you see a difference between … and … ?
Great! You waited patiently, watched carefully, and
now you’ve found a pattern.
I love getting right into this because it makes me
feel…
HOW CAN YOU HELP AT HOME?
Recognise that looking, watching, listening and playing with ideas
are key to successful learning.
Prompt children explicitly to notice detail and to make
comparisons.
Encourage children to ask themselves questions which will lead
them to want to look harder to find out the answers.
Reward the capacity to notice.

WWPS Enviro Corner! It was another busy week in Environmental Education at WWPS!
As part of our Science unit ‘Environment Matters’,
Stage 3 planted their own class ‘Crow Patch’ veg-
gie gardens alongside the Recycled Bottle Green-
house. A lot of fun was had by all and we look
forward to seeing how our veggies grow!
An upgrade of the original Crow Patch veggie
garden was undertaken recently. This was
accomplished through the placement of raised
garden beds inside the gardening area so more
classes can be involved and allow for easier
maintenance. A big thank you to the business Master Touch Landscaping & Irrigation for donating soil for this project.
Call Tony and Simon on 0437036256 for all your landscaping needs! A huge thanks must also go to all the parents who
braved the cold on the weekend to come along and help shovel the
soil into the new garden beds—your help and support is very much
appreciated.
Stage 3 students will now be assisting 4-6
classes around the school to help start their
own ‘Crow Patch’ in this upgraded area. They
will no doubt be able to pass on the knowledge
learnt in our ‘Environment Matters’ Science
unit to these classes.
