School Parking and Yellow Lines updates
Drop off and pick up times are increasingly busy at Crymlyn Primary. Please can you consider
the local residents and the safety of our pupils during these times. Wherever possible, please
consider walking to school or accessing the school bus if eligible.
The yellow lines outside school MUST not be used as a drop off or pick up point for children,
even for the shortest of times. Children should not be dropped off in the road for them to
come into school when you are running late. Safety MUST be a high priority at all times.
Please consider your speed when driving up and down School Road. There have been a
number of cars witnessed recently driving with excessive speed around the school. Can you
please spread this message further into the community with neighbours, family and friends.
Our local PCSO will continue to work closely with the school and make regular, unannounced
visits to monitor the situation throughout the day. I thank you for supporting us with this
matter, ensuring the safety of our pupils.
St David’s Day Celebrations
St David’s Day celebrations will be held on Monday
2nd March. Pupils are welcome to wear red, Welsh
costumes, Welsh rugby/football shirts on this day.
The class teachers will plan a variety of
activities to take place throughout the
day. You are welcome to drop-in and join
the pupils during their activities at any of
the following times:
Nursery pupils 9:15am -
11:00 am
Tea and coffee will be available
**All Nursery pupils to attend the
morning session. There will be NO afternoon
session**
Reception - Year 6 - 1:10pm - 3:00pm
Tea and coffee will be available
World Book Day
We will celebrate World Book Day on
Thursday 5th March. There will be a
variety of class activities planned
throughout the day. The children can
dress as a book character and bring their
favourite book to school to talk about
with the class.
Sport Relief Activities
On Friday 13th March our Sports
Ambassadors will be arranging a
range of games and activities to raise
money towards Sport Relief. Can all
pupils please dress in School Sports
Kit to participate in the activities.
There is a suggested donation of £1.
Extra INSET Day
Schools throughout Wales are being allocated 1
extra INSET day by Welsh Government to prepare
for the New Curriculum for Wales. This extra day
will take place during the summer term. A date
has not yet been set but as soon as we do, you
will be informed with sufficient notice.
The day will be used to promote Professional
Learning opportunities for all staff working
towards the new curriculum.
Term Time Holidays
We are seeing an increased amount of term
time holidays taken throughout the school. Can
I please remind you that as a school we can not
authorise these holidays, even when a Request
for Absence form is completed. These forms
help us to monitor absence but do NOT
authorise the holiday absence. If it is a request
for other reasons rather than a family holiday,
these will be considered on an individual basis.
Term time holidays WILL impact on your child's
individual attendance and whole school
attendance.
Please discuss any planned absence, wherever
possible.
Thank you for your cooperation with this
matter.
Have a fantastic half term break and I look forward
see you all on Monday 24th February.
Thank you for your continued support

to thank Mrs Thomas for her hard
work, commitment and creativity
whilst working with our pupils. I wish
her the very best with her new
addition to her beautiful family. I am
sure Mrs Thomas will visit us soon!
Nursery Update
Mrs Stephens will work with Mrs Thomas this

the half term holiday.
We are currently in the process of appointing
a full time nursery teacher at school. We will
keep you informed of the outcome of this
