ONE- Day National Workshop on “PCB DESIGNING FOR BIO-INSTRUMENTATION”

(NWPDBI 2018) on 17.03.2018

The department of Biomedical Engineering has organized a ONE- Day National Workshop on PCB DESIGNING

FOR BIO-INSTRUMENTATION (NWPDBI-2018) on 17th March 2018 in the College Campus with a sole aim at

giving a hands-on exposure to the students in PCB Design and Fabrication of various analytical, diagnostic and

therapeutic equipments along-with biomedical laboratory instruments which is having enormous societal significance in

terms of providing technological backbone and control to affordable patient care.

Main objective was to highlight the practical methods of PCB Designing for different kinds of medical equipments to

the 2nd , 3rd and 4th year BME students of JISCE, Kalyani.

.

The program started with a key-note address from Principal, JISCE followed by the Deans and the Convener of

NWPDBI-2018 & HOD of BME Department. The resource person from the industry, Mr. S. Biswas, (MD,

Craftronix Laboratoty Pvt. Ltd.) gave a clear concept of PCB Designing Technology to the budding engineer. The

Hands-on session was started at 11.00 A.M.

ONE-DAY SEMINAR ON ROLE OF CSSD IN INFECTION CONTROL & STERILIZAION

(SRCICS 2018)

The department of Biomedical Engineering has organized a ONE- DAY SEMINAR ON ROLE OF CSSD IN

INFECTION CONTROL AND STERILIZAION on 28th JULY 2018 in the College Campus with a sole aim of

giving a technical exposure to the students in CSSD, Sterilization and Infection Control of various analytical, diagnostic

and therapeutic equipments which is having enormous societal significance in terms of providing quality healthcare to

the mankind.

Main objective was to highlight the practical methods of Infection Control and Sterilization for different kinds of

medical equipments as well as to give an exposure in CSSD and its Work-flow process to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Year BME

students of JISCE, Kalyani

.

The program started with a key-note address from the HOD of BME Department followed by that of the Resource

Person-Mr. Sahanawaj Ahmed (Sr. Manager - BME Department, Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata).

The resource person from the industry gave a clear concept of the Central Sterile Supply Department, workflow and

inter-relation of CSSD with other department, various methods of Sterilization and different types of Sterilization

Devices.

The interactive session was started at 01.00 P.M which also included post seminar evaluation of the entire 63

participants.

ONE- Day International Professional Exchange Program on Biomedical Equipment Technology

(BMET 2018) on 25.09.2018

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, JISCE has organized Biomedical Equipment Technology (BMET)

International Professional Exchange Program-2018 on 25th September 2018 in the College Campus as Partner

Institute with NSEC-Kolkata with a sole aim of giving an exposure to the students in real life scenario of Biomedical

Engineering out of JISCE & across globe.

The program started with a key-note address from Principal, JISCE followed by the Convener of BMET-2018 &

HOD of BME Department, JISCE Hon’ble Dignitaries-Mr. Larry Franklin McNesse (Instructor, University of

Massachusetts); Mr. Hassan Aslami (Sr.Manager,USWDP) and Dr.Sukumar Roy (HOD-BME,NSEC-Kolkata)

discussed about the concept of bridging the gap between the technology and the engineer and growth of Biomedical

Engineering.

Apart from them, other dignitaries were Karimullah Shahpar(Dean- Kabul University of Medical Sciences);

Pashtana Banayee (Head- Kabul University of Medical Sciences); MD. Mukhtar Sediqi (Technician- Kabul

University of Medical Sciences); Asadullah Gaznawai (Admin Staff- Kabul University of Medical Sciences);

Mohammad Amin (Faculty- Kabul Polytechnic University); Pazir Ahmad(Faculty- Kabul Polytechnic

University); MD. Waleed Sami (Faculty- Kabul Polytechnic University); Enayatullah Fayaz (Faculty- Kabul

University of Medical Sciences); Shafiqullah Shinwari (Faculty- Kabul University of Medical Sciences); Abdul

Rashid Altaf (Senior Program Officer- USWDP).

.

The objective of the International Professional Exchange Program was to impart in-depth knowledge on this

important domain i.e Biomedical Equipment Technology.

The Workshop included Interactive Session and Practical Exposure on the Technology, Curriculum as well as Course

Structure which is being used in Biomedical Engineering Department JISCE.

Achievement in JISTech2k18

The Department of Biomedical Engineering of JIS College of Engineering exhibited highly innovative health care

system related engineering models at its stall in JISTech 2K18. In Biomedical engineering stall, four superb engineering

models namely, “ELECTRO-OCULO ARM”, “STRESS TESTER”, “APPLICATION OF IOT IN

HEALTHCARE” and “TENS” were exhibited.

All the faculty members, technical staff and 20 Biomedical Engineering students (B.Tech 1st year to 4th year) actively

participated and brought a great vivacity and success in JISTech 2K18 after maiden achievement in JISTech2K16 and

JISTech 2K17.

Industry Visit

VISIT TO NIBMG, KALYANI on 11/11/2018

A One-Day industry visit on 11/11/2018 was organized by the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, JIS College of

Engineering, Kalyani for the students of B.TECH BME 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year. The purpose of the visit was to enhance

industry exposure of the students and to get practical insights into research world involving Biomedical Domain.

The visit was organized at NIBMG, Kalyani, an esteemed organization in the field of Biomedical Genomics Research.

As per schedule, the students of BME reached the Institute by 10 am. The pre lunch session was enlightened with a talk

by Prof (Dr.) Harold E. Vermus about the world of research.

The post lunch session included visit to the Museum of NIBMG, Kalyani and Interactive session with Nobel Laureate

Prof (Dr.) Harold E. Vermus.
