On Monday, the 24th of February, eleven of the twelve student councillors travelled in three vehicles
to the Pemberton Camp School. We arrived mid-morning to participate in co-operative games with the
other schools. We organised ourselves into groups to set up morning tea, lunch and dinner.
After lunch we went to the Big Brook Dam and back.
All schools combined to critique and breakdown public speaking clips from movies. Then each school
separated to prepared and deliver their own two minute speeches.
On the second day, Wagin student council members completed the team building Pemberton chal-
lenge. This involved many physically and mentally challenging activities that required us to work as a
team to accomplish them.
After the other schools departed, we went mountain bike riding for the rest of the day, this was quite a
big challenge for us but was overall enjoyable.
The final day of camp arrived quite fast. Once packed, we departed Pemberton and travelled to Bridge-
town where we bought lunch and went window shopping for a while, until it was time for us to con-
tinue our journey back home to Wagin.
We would all like to thank the staff of the Pemberton Camp School and our own school staff and
teachers, Mr vandenBerg, Mrs Sercome and Chappy for organising and participating in all these great
things. We are very grateful for the experience and all of the memories.

LEADERSHIP CAMP
Our student councillors attended a three day camp in Pemberton last week, where they participated in team
building activities. Mr vandenBerg, Mrs Sercombe and Mrs Hinton very kindly offered to transport students
to and from camp. We received many positive comments from the camp organisers and other schools who

WDHS Swimming carnival 2014:
what a success!
What a day it was! The weather turned it on and students
participation levels increased on previous years. I was so
happy with the parent support and the amount of help and
assistance we had from our community. The morning
saw a PARTY in the pool with the Pre-Primary to Year 3
students having an absolute ball with their rotational
water activities. Then by 11am, the 100m events had
started for the 9-16 year old students and what a carnival
it became. Congratulations to everyone who gave it their
all for the day.
We did have some issues with our scoring system which
affected the 9 and 10 year old individual points. In our
efforts to award all students who participate in any event
with points, some students missed out on their cham-
pionship awards. I will rectify this situation at our Week
6 assembly and parents will be contacted if their child
was affected. I will also ensure that the scoring system is
improved for next year.
Thanks again to everyone who helped in any way, you
are always greatly appreciated and it is so good to have
such community support for our AWESOME SCHOOL!
