NEWSLETTER - ISSUE # 32
INLAND EMPIRE - SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Continue (Olvera Street)We ate at one
of the restaurants atOlvera Street and eventhough it was a littleexpensive the food, entertainment and theentire atmosphere waswell worth the price. Evenso this is one restaurantthat we will not come backto or at least most of uswont.
The musicians
come up to the table andask if you want to hear asong, but after the songthey let you know that it is$8.00 for each request.
In addition to
this there are no refills onthe drinks, and thewaitress figures out the tipautomatically which isincluded on the final bill. Iguess most tourists might
do what we did, enjoy the
meal, celebrate themoment and get a littleexperience about wherenot to eat next time.
This day
was one we took pleasurein and will savor themoments we spenttogether finally returninghome via the East I-10.We concluded our itineraryon this cruise and stopped
at the same Dennys we
started at and went in andstayed a while havingsomething to drink andordering dessert beforecalling it a day until our
next cruise..rememberkeep those pt cruisersclean and looking sharp, itdoesnt have to look like acustom cruiser as long as itgets you there and backhome. (Photos pg. 2)

El Pueblo De Los Angeles Cruise(Olvera Street)
The last time I
remember going to Olvera Streetin Los Angeles was probablyabout 1980 so its been a whileand I didnt know what toexpect. In fact I had no idea ofhow to get there. I examined thedirections and they made itsound easy and they were afterverifying with Tommy Dorseywho is very knowledgeable of the
Los Angeles area. For this cruisewe met at Dennys in themorning of the cruise and headedtowards Los Angeles via the SanBernardino Freeway (10). Wemade our exit and circled aroundOlvera Street which was goodbecause we found a parking lotright across the street where weall parked our cruisers together.
The excitement atOlvera Street always seems to bethere with all the shops, vendors,
restaurants, entertainment, andthe many tourists who go there. The area is well kept and thebuildings are very clean and niceto look at, but the one thing thatI found that changed
dramatically is the fact that thevendors will not bargain fromtheir set price on themerchandise.
Our group did findsome good bargains and boughtmany things, one being a great
looking cool hat that Tommybought. I myself have alwaysliked the garment that ClintEastwood wore on the westernmovies so I bought one. Itcovers the front and back andyour head slips into it whichleaves your hands free becauseof the wayits made. Continue

Sunday June 07 2009 - Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival CruiseWe all met at Dennys on Milliken in Ontario and traveled by way of the I-15 south. I wasnt so
sure about where to turn getting near the festival and so I asked the membership if they knew exactly
where this place was and no one knew. So we travel and made our exit at Rancho California Road and
travel about 10 to 12 miles through very beautiful open rolling hills on a two lane highway. The cruise
on this road was spectacular and I was looking for a street that was mentioned on the directions so we
continued about another 6 miles when we decided that we might have gone too far. So we turn aroundand headed back the way we came and after a bit came upon the road we were looking for. We turned
right into this dirt road which was covered with tiny rocks but we figured it must be up and over the
rolling hills ahead so we traveled about 4 to 5 miles on this road and again realized that we were lost.
We made a 7 movement U-turn on that dirt road and headed back towards the paved road.
The experience traveling on this road was highly motivated for some because it had been ages since
some of us went cross country 4 wheeling and kicking up so much dust that one could barely see the
car in front or behind. But we did manage to find the pave road and continued south until we came to
a small road that said Skinner Lake which was not at all on the directions, so we turned and over the
horizon we came across a magnificent view of the festival.
There must have been at least 10,000 people. We managed to park together and walk over to theentrance. Actually some of us ran over to the entrance to make a very much needed comfort stop.
This being new to us, we found it exciting and happy that we were finally here so we strolled into the
area where they had about 100 vendors and all of them cooking really good food. Some of us tried
very hard to resist the aroma because it was so tempting to try many of the foods there. We spent
most of the day walking and enjoying the festival and left about 2:30 pm and headed into Old Town
Temecula where we shopped and sat down to eat a very delicious lunch at a Mexican Restaurant. The
food was simply delicious and after we ate, we again walked around town and left for home towards
the late afternoon. We cruised along the I-15 north and said our good-bys along the way on the 2-way
radios as we took different routes heading home.
