Annual Music Concert Sincere thank you to all of the music students who participated in last weeks annual music concert. It was a fantastic evening where all College bands and students performed at a high level. Sincere thanks to all parents and staff who attended to support the students (your children). We as a music department appreciate the support of parents attending concerts and music activities and thank you for your donations of items for the Christmas Hamper and supper to share on the evening. Looking forward to seeing you again next year. Year 9 on Camp at Deakin Nearly 40 students and 5 teachers left on Monday morning for the two day Deakin University residential camp. The camp focusses on film making as its key component, and there are also workshops on pathways and some sports early Tuesday morning. In the film workshops, the students are divided into roles, including camera person, sounds and special effects person, the director, producer and of course the actors. Each student will play a part in creating and developing a short film, which will be showcased at the end of camp. On Monday evening, the students will enjoy the company of storyteller, traveller and writer, Russell McGilton, who will entertain them for an hour or so after dinner. YEAR 7 ZOO EXCURSION

On Tuesday, 4th November, Year 7 students visited the Royal Melbourne Zoo.

The weather was kind and the day ran smoothly. Some student reflections

included:

A Lemur jumped on the fence and grabbed David’s hand

There was a baby elephant

It was fun walking with friends

Mobile phone use has an impact on Gorilla habitat destruction (these are

critically endangered)

It was sad to see animals in enclosures for human entertainment

I saw an elephant eating a watermelon

The elephants sleep in an “elephant barn’ at night.

It was a great day had by all. Ruth Cusack

NEW COLLEGE UNIFORM

With the introduction of the new College uniform in 2013 there was a two year period of grace, during which

time students could wear new, old or combination of uniform items. We are now approaching the end of that

two year transition period and it is timely to remind all families that students are expected to be wearing the

new College uniform for the beginning of the 2015 school year.

Most of our students are wearing correct College uniform with pride and look terrific – we thank parents for

supporting our uniform policy. Teachers and the Student Support teams provide constant reminders of our ex-

pectation that all students will be in full and correct College uniform.

Students are required to get a uniform pass when they do not have correct items of uniform and parents will be

contacted when students are persistently out of uniform. If your child does not have an item of uniform, please

provide a signed note of explanation - this will enable them to get a uniform pass for the day.

Uniform can be purchased from Beleza store located at 107 Ryrie Street – it is open from 9am to

4.30pm Monday to Friday.
