80 George Goalsetters was officially chartered

on November 1st, 1995.

That means that November 1st this year will be

our 20th Anniversary.

We have decided to have a dinner on the closestweekend to the above, which means Friday

night, 30th

October 2015.

It’s noteworthy that two of our original

members from 20 years ago, namely Richard

Klysz (our foundation President) and Michael

Nelles, are still active in the club after all this

time.

We are after ideas for a venue on the night of

where to go to dinner. Hopefully

somewhere that isn’t too noisy. There won’

be very many formalities on the night, but i

would be nice to be able to hear a couple o

toasts being proposed, instead of having to

yell over a band or a DJ.

So, if you wish to nominate a suitable venue

or have other suggestions for the

celebration, please join in the discussion

thread on the club website. You can find i

under the menu “My Communication”, then

“Discussion Forum”.

In this first club newsletter for my year as President, I have the

honour to acknowledge the incredible accomplishments of the

many members who achieved awards over the last term.

That, as well as the diligent work by the Executive team in

administering the club, and all members in helping build the

club’s fun culture by introducing members, meant that our club

reached President’s Distinguished Club award for only the second

time in our club’s history. More than that, it was the first time we

ever achieved all 10 of the Distinguished Club Program (DCP)

goals.

I want to especially thank David Pedler, as the President

presiding over this achievement, for his leadership of the club

during that period.

Moving forwards, we have a growing list of achievements

including a Competent Leader award as well as Advanced

Communication Silver and two Advanced Leadership Bronze.

In addition to the above who have recently finished an award, it's

also worth noting that four people have started their Toastmasters

journey recently by giving their first “ice-breaker” speech in our

club in the last few months.

I also look forward our new members doing the same in the near

future, since they are our newest members. I welcome you both,

Coby and Jean-Paul.

With our club’s 20th

Anniversary coming up in just a few weeks,

the club has a lot to look forward to in this year and beyond.

Club Spirit Award

Who do you think contributed the most to the “spirit” of the club during the

time period 1/7/2014 – 30/6/2015?

We’d like to know. We’ll be calling for your vote toward this award duringOctober, so that it can be presented as part of the club’s 20th

Anniversary

celebrations. Please take part in this by responding to the email when it is sentout asking for your nomination.

The “Club Spirit Award Trophy” is an annual award given in the 80 George

Goalsetters club, based upon the nominations of the members. That means it ismembers choosing one of their own, as the ideal “spirit” of the club during the

previous 12 months.

It could be one of the club officers but doesn’t have to be, since every member

is eligible.

Who did the most to make the meetings enjoyable, or welcomed visitors, or

achieved some award, or worked behind the scenes to help others achieve, orwas a great example for others in the club? Whatever your reason for

choosing the member, the majority vote will decide who is the winner of the“Club Spirit Award Trophy” for this last year.
