Dear Parents/ Caregivers,
I trust all our fathers had a fabulous day last
Sunday. Certainly the annual Fathers Day BBQ
here at school was a great success with fun and
games enjoyed by all who a"ended.
Mission Appeal
This week we are engaged in our Mission Ap-
peal fortnight with a number of ac)vi)es
scheduled. Many of these are for all children to
enjoy and are highlighted on the various post-
ers around the school. To help support the
Mission Appeal, please send along a dollar or
two with your child on the days that they
might like to enjoy a par)cular ac)vity.
“Vietnamese tuckshop” con)nues tomorrow
and again next Wednesday.
I am impressed with the number of students in
Years 5—7 who are going to sleep over on Fri-
day evening this week. What a great experi-
ence and way to appreciate the challenges of
homeless people and how we can support
them. It should also be some good fun. At this
)me, some 65 people, adults and children will
be sleeping over!
Projects
The new re-vamped Year 6 and 7 playground
was opened for use yesterday. I’m told it’s so
much be"er than the last one!
My thanks have gone to those who put for-
ward ideas on the new elements to include in
the playground.
The area at the front of the school is taking
shape. We are all looking forward to when it is
completed. Each morning, children give it great
scru)ny and are learning a great deal just by
watching. The “Boy Jesus” will be the feature
in the middle of this area.

row evening, 10th September, at 5.30 pm in
the staffroom. All are welcome to a"end.

What is Confidence?
Confidence is being certain and feeling assurance. It comes from knowing and
trusting someone. Self-confidence means you trust yourself. You can do things
without doubts holding you back. You know your own strengths and
weaknesses. When you are confident is others, you rely on them and trust
them. Confidence in God is a sense of trust that your Creator loves you and
watches over you as you go through life.
You are practising Helpfulness when you …
• Remember that you are worthwhile whether you succeed or fail.
• Try new things.
• Think positively.
• Trust in God and ask for God’s help.
Virtue of the Week: Confidence Markus says when you are Confident you are being
RESILIENT!!
SUPPORT CATHOLIC MISSIONS
This week and next week our student leaders will run a range of lunch time activities (on Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) to raise money for our Catholic Missions appeal. (I know the face painting
was a HUGE hit today!) Please join with us and Catholic Mission in the lead up to this year’s World Mission
Month to learn more about issues of mission and justice and to reach out to help children trapped in the
dangerous ghettos of Jamaica, and around the world, get a proper education so that they can have
better opportunities to be ‘alive’ when they grow up and achieve their dreams. This year the focus is on
Jamaica, a nation with a vibrant life and identity, but also a reputation as one of the most violent on
earth. Catholic Missions seek to help children whose hopes for the future are tempered by the reality of
fear and violence in their communities, and some of the missionaries bringing the Gospel to life for these
special children. Please support us again with your generosity by allowing your children to have a little bit
of extra money to spend on these activities.
Date Claimers ...
As part of our Catholic Missions fundraising a group of Mums and Dads will also be selling
Vietnamese food from the tuckshop for the next 2 Wednesdays (10, & 17 September). I know
this will, once again, be popular amongst our students and staff—with all profits going directly
to the orphanage we support in Vietnam. Thanks to these parents for their generosity!

St Mark’s Wednesday
Mothers Group
Last week 3G designed and created solar ovens as
part of our science unit. We really enjoyed working in
teams to create our ovens but the best part was
cooking our scky sweet sandwiches. Over the course
of the day we watched our food change and were
really excited when we could finally eat it! Our solar
ovens were a success! Jess Oliveri
