  • RE NEWS

    Mrs Nikki Lysaght:

    Assistant Principal Religious Education

    What is Confidence?

Confidence is being certain and feeling assurance. It comes from knowing and

trusting someone. Self-confidence means you trust yourself. You can do things

without doubts holding you back. You know your own strengths and

weaknesses. When you are confident is others, you rely on them and trust

them. Confidence in God is a sense of trust that your Creator loves you and

watches over you as you go through life.

You are practising Helpfulness when you …

    • Remember that you are worthwhile whether you succeed or fail.

    • Try new things.

    • Think positively.

    • Trust in God and ask for God’s help.

Virtue of the Week: Confidence Markus says when you are Confident you are being

    RESILIENT!!

    SUPPORT CATHOLIC MISSIONS

This week and next week our student leaders will run a range of lunch time activities (on Monday,

Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) to raise money for our Catholic Missions appeal. (I know the face painting

was a HUGE hit today!) Please join with us and Catholic Mission in the lead up to this year’s World Mission

Month to learn more about issues of mission and justice and to reach out to help children trapped in the

dangerous ghettos of Jamaica, and around the world, get a proper education so that they can have

better opportunities to be ‘alive’ when they grow up and achieve their dreams. This year the focus is on

Jamaica, a nation with a vibrant life and identity, but also a reputation as one of the most violent on

earth. Catholic Missions seek to help children whose hopes for the future are tempered by the reality of

fear and violence in their communities, and some of the missionaries bringing the Gospel to life for these

special children. Please support us again with your generosity by allowing your children to have a little bit

of extra money to spend on these activities.

    Date Claimers ...

As part of our Catholic Missions fundraising a group of Mums and Dads will also be selling

Vietnamese food from the tuckshop for the next 2 Wednesdays (10, & 17 September). I know

this will, once again, be popular amongst our students and staff—with all profits going directly

to the orphanage we support in Vietnam. Thanks to these parents for their generosity!

    • This Thursday, 11 September, we celebrate the Buddy Class Mass for Prep B and 2B at 9:30am in the

Church. All parents and friends are invited to join this celebration.

    • This Friday’s Prayer Assembly (12 September at 8:45 am in Mercy Hall) will be led by 5W.

    • The St Vincent de Paul School Sleepover for Year 5, 6 & 7 students is on Friday night, 12 September.

    • Next Thursday, 18 September, 4G and Prep G will celebrate their Buddy Mass.

    • Next Friday, 19 September, 4W will lead us in our Assembly Prayer.

    • School holidays start on Friday 19 September.

    • School starts back on Tuesday 7 October.

  • This Friday night! Friday 12th September

Experience what it is like to be homeless!

From 7pm to 7am, in the under-

    cover area. Please wear warm

clothes and bring a sleeping bag

    and pillow. Guest speakers will

    be arriving from 8.30pm.

Wednesday is the LAST chance to

sign up for the sleep out!!

Last week 3G designed and created solar ovens as

part of our science unit. We really enjoyed working in

teams to create our ovens but the best part was

cooking our scky sweet sandwiches. Over the course

of the day we watched our food change and were

really excited when we could finally eat it! Our solar

ovens were a success! Jess Oliveri
