Smith Fine Arts Academy will consist of PreK - Fourth grades. Doors will open at 8:30 A.M with the tardy bell ringing at 8:40 A.M. Students are dismissed from 3:35-3:45 P.M. at Smith Fine Arts Academy. Our Back-to-School Open House and Title I Annual Meeng will be on the evening of Thursday, August 9th from 5:00-6:00 P.M. At this me, you can pay textbook fees, add money to lunch accounts, sign up for a background check, and visit class- rooms. Per district policy, all visitors wishing to volunteer, eat lunch with a child, or parcipate in field trips throughout the school year, must have a background check on file. A new background check is required each year. Once again, all elementary schools will be offering free breakfast this year to all students. The cost of a school lunch is $2.50 and an addional carton of milk and a la carte items may be purchased for 60¢. Adult lunches are $3.50. Breakfast will be available beginning the first day of school. If you feel your family will qualify for meal benefits, you are encouraged to complete a meal/textbook assistance form that will be sent home the first day of school. DISMISSAL

Please share our dismissal pro-

cedures with any friends and/or

family members who will be re-

sponsible for picking up your

student.

To change your student’s dismis-

sal procedure, please send a

note to school or call the office

at 765-342-8488 x 3 prior to 3:00

pm. (We cannot accommodate

dismissal changes after 3:00

pm). Please do not leave a mes-

sage when making a dismissal

change.

If your child is riding a different

bus than normal, a note to the

bus driver from the parent/

guardian is required (please in-

clude the drop off location).

If your child is a car rider, please

stop by the office to pick up a

green sign to place in your car

during dismissal.

Car riders, bus riders, and day-

care students will begin dismiss-

ing at 3:35 pm. Walkers will be

released at approximately 3:45

pm, after all buses and car riders

have departed.

Students who are being picked

up early must be signed out in

the office by a parent, guardian,

or emergency contact.

We appreciate your patience,

especially during the first two

weeks, as we learn our new stu-

dents, families, and their dismis-

sal plans!

FOOD SERVICE

We will again be offering a free

“Grab & Go” breakfast to all stu-

dents this year.

Menus are available at the beginning

of each month and can be found at:

BACKGROUND CHECK/

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

All visitors to MSD of Martinsville

Schools (including individuals inter-

ested in working with, chaperoning,

or having lunch with students) dur-

ing the school year will be required

to have a Limited Criminal History

Check. Completed background

checks are confidential and will be

kept in the school office. A valid

driver’s license or state-issued ID will

be required for the background

check. Please complete the Back-

ground Check Form, available in the

office, and present your ID to the

office at least a week prior to visiting

or volunteering. In order to keep

our students safe, individuals who

do not have a valid driver’s license

or state-issued ID will not be allowed

access to our building or our stu-

dents. Please note: If you have a

misdemeanor conviction within the

last 5 years or a felony conviction

within the last 10 years, you will not

be allowed to visit/chaperone during

school hours. Thank you for
