My condolences to the Canada JCI Senate for the loss of your Past President Rene Jacob #22847.I attended the US JCI Senate Region V meeting March 15 to 17 in Dayton OH. Thank you Region V foryour warm welcome and hospitality.I will be attending the US JCI Senate Region VI meeting April 12 to 14 in my home state of Minnesota. Iam looking forward to hosting US JCI Senate President Pete Reinecker and First Lady Lynn in my homearea.We are finalizing the agenda and program for our annual meeting in Mendoza. Es un placer saludarles en esta quinta edición de nuestro boletín que se publicará en tiempo deadviento.Deseo ser muy breve ya que estamos en tiempo de “recogimiento” para poder, Reflexionar,Contemplar, Pensar y Meditar.Son solamente 40 días de 365 que tiene el año, para dedicarle al señor, asi es que los invito a hacereste gran esfuerzo.Hay tanta miseria, injusticia, desigualdad, discriminación, inhumanidad, abusos y mucho mas que seesta viendo en todos los países del mundo unos con más intensidad que otros donde tenemos amigosdel Credo.Es por esto que Los invito a que leamos los temas: “confianza, perdón y misericordia” de l libro el “man esta vivo”:En este tiempo de adviento debemos tener en cuenta que a pesar de todo por lo que pasamos no hayque perder la FE en todo momento y ser PACIENTE de que lo mejor esta por venir.

On Thursday. 14 th of May 20, The General Assembly of ASAC andon Saturday, 18 th of May, the lunch offered by the Board of Directors of ASAC to the senators. The President of ASAC and the President of the Senate of Argentina together with the Conference director and JCI have been doing their utmost since last year to have a more extended program for the senators.

Theme of the day

A central theme in the life of those who believe in God is trust in Him. Each one has had a personalexperience and, therefore, a particular experience with God. Some have found it in a way, forexample, in a prayer group, at an event or on the street. Others have found it from other searches,however, the experience we have with Him, in essence, is the same. It feels good to discover that inGod we can trust at all times. In our days, trust has lost a lot of value. One entrusts a secret or someproject to someone, and at the first difficulty, the secrets are revealed and the intimacy and trustgiven is not respected. It is very sad to say “I’m going to tell you something, but do not tell anyone”;and it turns out that the gossip is watered, in silence everyone knows the supposed secret. I wonderif those who run before anyone to tell their problems will also run to tell God what is happening tothem. In that sense, it is good to discover that in God we can leave everything we are, confident thatwe could not be in better hands. I have preached a lot about trust, because I feel it, because I candiscover a God who accompanies me, who fills me with courage, who gives me his strength tosucceed and to be happy.

Un tema central en la vida de quienes creemos en Dios es la confianza en Él. Cada uno ha tenido unaexperiencia personal y, por tanto, particular con Dios. Algunos lo han encontrado de una manera,por ejemplo, en un grupo de oración, en un evento o en la calle. Otros lo han encontrado a partir deotras búsquedas, sin embargo, la experiencia que tenemos con Él, en esencia, es la misma. Se sientebien poder descubrir que en Dios podemos confiar en todo momento. En nuestros días la confianzaha perdido mucho valor. Uno confía un secreto o algún proyecto a alguien, y ante la primeradificultad, se revelan los secretos y no se respeta la intimidad ni la confianza dada.

Es muy triste decir “te voy a contar algo, pero no se lo digas a nadie” y resulta que se riega el chisme, en silenciotodos saben el supuesto secreto. Me pregunto si aquellos que corren ante cualquier persona acontarle sus problemas también correrán a contarle a Dios lo que les está pasando. En ese sentido,es bueno descubrir que en Dios podemos dejar todo lo que somos, confiados en que no podría estaren mejores manos. He predicado mucho sobre la confianza, porque la siento, porque puedodescubrir un Dios que me acompaña, que me llena de ánimo, que me da su fuerza para saliradelante y para ser feliz. Muchos momentos en los que he estado desesperado y con pocasesperanzas, han sido los perfectos para reconocer que no estoy solo, que Dios no me deja. Y esa esprecisamente la certeza que quiero que tengas hoy, que puedas salir adelante confiando en que noestás peleando tu vida solo, que no estás dando una pelea sin nadie al lado, que puedas confiarplenamente en que Dios te acompaña, en que Él te está llenando de su fuerza y te está empujandopara que salgas adelante y seas feliz.

Many moments in which I have been desperate and with little hope, havebeen the perfect ones to recognize that I am not alone, that God does not leave me. And that isprecisely the certainty that I want you to have today, that you can get ahead trusting that you arenot fighting your life alone, that you are not giving a fight with no one next, that you can fully trustthat God is with you, that He It is filling you with your strength and it is pushing you to get ahead andbe happy.

Theme of the day

No one who feels called by God can say that it is thanks to his merits, what he has done. On thecontrary, whoever feels called by Him, must be able to understand that it is pure mercy, not becausehe is the best or because there was not someone else. We all have shortcomings, we have situationsin life that do not allow us to be perfect. I am very encouraged to know that God very little isinterested in these things, and that he really looks at the heart’s intention. If God looked at the badthings that one does, he would not invite anyone to follow him, but He understands humanweakness and that is why he takes the initiative and invites us to be with him, this is where I findGod’s mercy as his identity, when I understand that He is nothing other than mercy and love. Whilemany in the name of God are dedicated to reject, to marginalize and point out those who thinkdifferently, to those who have made their imperfections something to show; while many in his namekill with their tongues, He welcomes with a hug those who decide to approach Him by other means.Because his mercy is not exhausted and because salvation depends on him and not on us. Evenmore, God has given us gifts, He has enabled us, He fills us with His strength to overcomeweaknesses, to make us stronger. God sustains us in weakness, that you see in mercy, what youhave received for free. In that sense I remember the words of my grandmother when she said thatGod sees us with eyes of piety. Each one must be able to allow himself to be embraced by thatmercy, and to recognize that nothing is by his own merit, that everything is by the grace of God.

Nadie que se sienta llamado por Dios puede decir que sea gracias a sus méritos, a lo que ha hecho.Al contrario, quien se siente llamado por Él, tiene que ser capaz de entender que es por puramisericordia, no porque sea el mejor o porque no había alguien más. Todos tenemos defectos,tenemos situaciones en la vida que no nos permiten ser perfectos. A mí me anima mucho saber queDios muy poco se interesa en esas cosas, y que mira realmente la intención del corazón. Si Diosmirara las cosas malas que uno hace, pues no invitariá a nadie a seguirlo, pero Él entiende ladebilidad humana y por eso toma la iniciativa y nos invita a estar con Él, es aquí donde encuentro lamisericordia de Dios como su identidad, cuando entiendo que Él no es otra cosa que misericordia yamor. Mientras muchos en nombre de Dios se dedican a rechazar, a marginar y señalar a quienespiensan distinto, a quienes han hecho de sus imperfecciones algo que mostrar; mientras muchos ensu nombre matan con sus lenguas, Él acoge con un abrazo a quienes deciden acercarse a Él por otrosmedios. Porque su misericordia no se agota y porque la salvación depende de Él y no de nosotros.Aún más, Dios nos ha dado dones, nos ha capacitado, nos llena de su fuerza para vencer lasdebilidades, para hacernos más fuertes. Dios nos sostene en la debilidad, eso lo ves en lamisericordia, lo que has recibido gratis. En ese sentido recuerdo las palabras de mi abuela cuandodecía que Dios nos ve con ojos de piedad. Cada uno tiene que ser capaz de dejarse abrazar por esamisericordia, y de reconocer que nada es por mérito propio, que todo es por la gracia de Dios.

Yesterday we reflected on the need we have to ask for forgiveness, to move away from harmfulpride and focus our eyes on an attitude of humility that allows us to get closer to each other andrecognize that we have not done things right. Today I would like us to meditate on the idea from theother side, that is, to meditate on the need to forgive. I have already said it many times, and this hasbeen the thesis of one of my books: the one who wins the most is the one who forgives, because heis able to put aside the anger that hurts and frees himself from useless hatreds. We agree that tohate the other is like taking a poison waiting for the other to die, and it turns out that no, the onewho is dying inside is the one who is hating. That is why it is necessary to understand forgiveness asa practice that liberates, that allows us to break ties that do not allow us to be happy. You have tolearn to open your heart to recognize the mistakes of others. In the same sense, I proposesomething to you: remember the times when you have failed and have asked for forgiveness. Thiswill help you to understand that, like us, others are imperfect and wrong. I love when in the OurFather we say “forgive us as we forgive those who offend us”, because what we are saying to God isthat we recognize before Him that we are not so different from those who have harmed us, but alsoIt ends up being a commitment to give forgiveness to those who harm us. Become aware of thistoday, think that the most benefited to forgive is yourself, that it is not worth continuing toaccumulate hatred that does not serve you at all. While you are bitter, whoever harmed you isenjoying your life in freedom. Does that make sense?

Ayer reflexionábamos en torno a la necesidad que tenemos de pedir perdón, de alejarnos del orgullodañino y centrar nuestra mirada en una actitud de humildad que nos permita acercarnos al otro yreconocer que no hemos hecho las cosas bien. Hoy quisiera que meditáramos la idea desde el otrolado, es decir, que meditemos sobre la necesidad de perdonar. Ya lo he dicho muchas veces, y hasido esta la tesis de uno de mis libros: quien más gana es quien perdona, porque es capaz de dejar aun lado el rencor que daña y se libera de odios inútiles. Estamos de acuerdo en que odiar al otro es

como tomarse un veneno esperando a que el otro sea el que se muera, y resulta

que no, el que se vamuriendo por dentro es quien

está odiando. Por eso es necesario entender el

perdón como unapráctica que libera,

que permite romper ataduras que no nos dejan ser felices. Hay que aprender aabrir el corazón a reconocer los errores de los demás. En el mismo sentido te propongo algo: hazmemoria de las veces en que

has fallado y has pedido perdón.

Esto te servirá para que comprendas

que, al igual que nosotros, los demás

son imperfectos y se equivocan. A mí me

encanta cuando en elPadre Nuestro decimos

“perdónanos como nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden”,

porque loque le estamos diciendo a Dios es que reconocemos delante de Él que no somos tan distintos deaquellos que nos han dañado, pero también acaba siendo un compromiso de dar perdón a los quenos dañan. Haz conciencia hoy de esto, piensa en que el más beneficiado al perdonar eres tú mismo,que no vale la pena seguir acumulando odios que no te sirven para nada. Mientras tú te amargas,quien te hizo daño está disfrutando su vida en libertad. ¿Tiene sentido eso?
