Welcome back! I hope you have had a restful holiday because we
are back into a busy and exciting term of learning.
Our students have voted on the location of the ‘Only One You’ painted
rocks, and we have commenced our school soccer sessions with Adam,
made possible through the Sporting Schools Grants. Our P&C have
fuelled our bodies and minds with a surprise breakfast on Tuesday
morning and the students enthusiastically participated in “Frisbee Friday”
challenges last week.
Next week we will celebrate Education Week with daily lunchtime
activities to challenge our students’ knowledge and skills in and
outside the classroom.
Next Friday our students will embark on a journey exploring a
treasure trove of imagination and fantasy as we celebrate book week.
As part of this our students are encouraged to
dress up as their favourite story book
character culminating in our Book Parade.at
2.30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and
experience the magic of bringing our
treasured books to life!

Lions Club Donates a Defibrillator
Thank you to the Corowa Lions Club for their generous
donation of a defibrillator to the school. It is very
comforting to know we will now have the capability to
assist if someone is in desperate need of this proven life
saving device whilst the emergency services are on
their way. The staff and students will receive an update
on correct practices.

Thank you to the Athletes Foot in Albury for their kind donation of $30 gift voucher as
well as a cheque for $30, which is a percentage of the purchases made by families of

Skittle Experiment
On Friday 15th June, the Wilay students became classroom scientist looking at how Skittles appearance changes when hot,
warm and cold water is added to them. Students created their own hypothesis (guess) and had to record their finding into a
chart. The class then made predictions and looked at other variables for this experiment. We will be following up on this, on
Friday for more Science investigations.
Gulaangga Class
Students have begun their maths learning for the term with multiplication and division. In Visual Arts the students are investigating the colour wheel and it’s various elements. They have commenced an artwork using the different media of chalk pastels. Students are enjoying the whole school dance sessions and are becoming familiar with terms such as “promenade” and “waltz hold”.

working on Narrative texts in Writing and in Mathematics we are continuing to develop our
skills in problem solving and learning about fractions.
Our Creative Arts challenge this term is for our students to become budding play writes.
By the end of term students will create
and perform their own puppet plays.

Welcome back to Term 3, another exciting term of learning. Kinder students celebrated their 100th day of school last Wednesday, while Year One students celebrated 102 days of learning for this year. All students enjoyed the 100 days of learning activities, reflecting on their learning journey and settling new learning goals for this semester. Memory Boxes Students are asked to bring in a shoebox or similar sized cardboard box over the next two weeks. for a special class design and make task. Students will be creating and decorating a “Memory Box”. Each child will be invited to bring in special personal memory items (not precious or breakable items) and present their Memory Box (full of their personal treasures) to the class. This project is to conclude our history topic “My Memories”. Examples of special and precious items that could be included : photos or drawings of family members, pets, friends, sport cards, team colours, favourite story, something that makes you smile/laugh, and something that makes you feel good about yourself. Children are asked to include: Something that makes you feel good about yourself, something that makes you feel proud of your achievements and something that you treasure!
Presentation of Memory Boxes will be on Week 4—Wednesday 15th August. Mrs Kate Taylor, ClassTeacher
