We confess that Christ is Lord of all and He calls us, in community, to equip students for a life of discipleship as stewards of His creation.
Missions Week is an important part of our last full week of Sep-tember at DCS. Students from K-12 participate in service, vol-unteer, and community partnership activities during the school day. DCS values the work of the students during Missions Week as it helps to shine God’s light in the community. If possi-ble, become involved with us during this week either as a volun-teer or in prayer for safety and protection as the students ven-ture off school grounds.
Specific projects that are highlighted include:
The Grade 12 students who will be building a house for an impoverished family in Mexico. The students worked all of last year to prepare, fundraise, and equip them-selves for this project.
The opportunity for the Gr. 11 students to witness the beauty of God's creation, while also forming lasting bonds and working cooperatively to hike the West Coast Trail.
The Gr. 7 class participates in a unique leadership and service trip. The focus is on building the students up to be leaders in the elementary school, and also to create lasting friendships into high school.

The Grade 7 students will be going to the annual Grade 7 Ser-vice Leadership Campout on Wednesday, September 27 and returning home on Friday, September 29. This year’s location will be Pioneer Pacific on Thetis Island.

Please pray for our Grade 12s on the Mission trip. They will be traveling to San Quintin, Baja, Mexico. There they will build two houses for families in need as well as share their faith with the children who live in the community.
The grade 12s will be leaving this Sunday, September 24 and returning Sunday, October 1.

He has just finished playing the 3 last three years with the Thompson River University WolfPack. The Duncan Christian Chargers Senior Boys and Girls Volleyball teams will also be part of these exciting events!

CALENDAR Hi, my name is Zoey. I’m a grade 12 student this year at DCS. I’m looking forward to participating in “Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Ward-robe”. Since grade 7, I’ve been performing as a mouse in “Cinderella”, a riveter in “Under the Apple Tree”, a student in “The A+ Project”, the Bird Lady in “Mary Poppins” and Maria in “Dion and the Belmonts:Your Own Backyard” and had the unique opportunity to write a portion of the that play. In years past, it was easy to think that I wasn’t needed when I had such a minor role. But on the contrary, it is the small parts that make the musical that much big-ger. Just because you don’t get the role of “Lucy” or “Aslan”, doesn’t mean you aren’t needed. We need people backstage helping move props, getting sponsors, saying the few but necessary lines, fundraising, singing harmonies, playing instruments in the band, dancers and actors filling up the stage, or-ganizing costumes, building the set, making the program, directing the play, contributing ideas for what the set will look like, see how scenes will work visually or maybe step up into a role you see we need. If any of these parts are missing, the musical will not run as well as it could. I think Paul says it best: “18But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body
be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” (1 Corinthians 12:18-22 NIV)
So, students and perhaps parents of DCS, if you’ve already dismissed the thought of participating in the play this year, I challenge you to reconsider. Even if you aren’t “front and center” in this year’s musical, there are still lots of ways you can be a part of this production.

Do you have any refundable beverage containers lying around the house? Why not donate them to the Duncan Christian School Grade 12 Missions Trip 2017! For pick up, please call either school office.
Also the Mission trip students have an account at the Bottle Depot called Duncan Christian School Mexico Mission. Anyone can return bottles to the depot (and mention the account before computer entry of returns begins) to help fund all mission students to Mexico in September! Thank you for your support.
