Many years ago she was a neighbour of Pastor and Judy Clark at Gerard Reserve. Although almost house bound with crippling back pain she certainly does not lead a dull life. She shares her home with her partner and carer, Daryl Wilson and often has house guests she tries to support. She has been a mother -in-law of a famous ex-prisoner of Guantanamo Bay de- tention camp and enjoys a close rela- tionship to her adult children, grand- children and also a new great grand- child, plus various nieces and friends. But recently God encouraged her in a dream that she would like to share with others. In the dream she was deeply troubled because she lived in an old broken down, dirty, rusty corrugated iron shed; She was surrounded by the filth of pigs and flea ridden dogs. Every- thing was broken, rotten and full of decay. But then God showed her where she is now. It is green and clean and light . It’s not filthy, smelly and rotten but growing and bright and full of life. That was her old life before she became a Christian and this is new life now that she knows her Sav- iour. HOME OF THE ABORIGINAL LUTHERAN MINISTRY IN ADELAIDE FOR 24 YEARS & STILL GOING STRONG

ST PAULS LUTHERAN CHURCH, FERRYDEN PARK Inc

AND THE ABORIGINAL LUTHERAN FELLOWSHIP OF GREATER ADELAIDE

Wilma has been a member of the Abo-riginal Lutheran Fellowship for about six years. Many years ago she was a neighbour of Pastor and Judy Clark at Gerard Reserve. Although almost house bound with crippling back pain she certainly does not lead a dull life. She shares her home with her partner and carer, Daryl Wilson and often has house guests she tries to support. She has been a mother -in-law of a famous ex-prisoner of Guantanamo Bay de-tention camp and enjoys a close rela-tionship to her adult children, grand-children and also a new great grand-child, plus various nieces and friends. But recently God encouraged her in a dream that she would like to share with others. In the dream she was deeply troubled because she lived in an old broken down, dirty, rusty corrugated iron shed; She was surrounded by the filth of pigs and flea ridden dogs. Every-thing was broken, rotten and full of

decay. But then God showed her where she is now. It is green and clean and light . It’s not filthy, smelly and rotten but growing and bright and full of life. That was her old life before she became a Christian and this is new life now that she knows her Sav-iour. Her troubles turned to joy.

Some encouragement for and from Wilma Lindsay.

Inge Rusinek celebrates her 80th birth-day. The candles ignited with such gusto we almost called the fire brigade.

Marjory (from Yalata) and Daisy (from Indul-kana) returned from collecting special bark from the mallee scrub. They just needed a nap.

Freds van opened its doors in January. This ministry of St Vincent de Paul Society provides one hot meal a week to the under-priviledged in our community. Eight of our members assist in this ministry.

Some of our young people learn that standing close together in fellowship is necessary for the sharing of the Gospel.

A couple of good books to read.Noel Pearson’s extended article in Quarterly Essay entitled; “RADICLE HOPE: Education and equality in Australia”. He has many and important insighful points. Among which, he speaks with gratitude of his Lutheran teachers. Watch our upcoming web site for a full review.

“Nowhere People” by Henry Reynolds; How theories of race have impacted on race relations in Australia. Being a long time fan of Henry Reynolds I find this book a helpful addition to my li-brary. It fills in the blanks as to how we as Europeans came to assumed the shocking cultural ar-rogance that justified genocide in the new world and terra nulius in regards to the occupa-tion of Australia.

Marilyn Wall leads in her first lay-reading service.

Michelle Juers, (also learning to be a lay reader) was just a little nervous when she shared with us of the blessings of New Crea-tion Summer School in January

ST PAULS LUTHERAN CHURCH FERRY-DEN PARK Inc & THE ABORIGINAL LU-THERAN FELLOWSHIP OF GREATER ADELAIDE A GREAT PLACE TO SERVE AND BE SERVED St Pauls Lutheran Church began in 1945 (incorporated in 1970) as a ministry to the western suburbs community. The congrega-tion began ministering to post WW2 migrants and has continued to support various refugee communities ever since. In 1986, under the guidance of Pastor Koch, the then District President, St Pauls combined with the Abo-riginal Lutheran Fellowship of Greater Ade-laide (Incorporated in 1975) when their fel-lowship centre at Thebarton was no longer

suitable. Over time the two incorporated bod-ies have forged a common identity, mission and character. We now enjoy a unique wor-ship experience that reflects the joy we share for the grace God has shown to us in forgive-ness and mercy.

With our shared history, and despite many obstacles and detractors, the ministry of Fer-ryden Park is stronger now than it has ever been.

We receive no financial subsidies from the LCA and any extra program we seek to follow has to be supported by our own members and/or community grants we apply for. So, if you have a heart for cross cultural ministry and would like to share with us in what God is doing among this community then maybe

this is the congregation for you. If you have a desire to serve God in valid and worth while ways then maybe this is the ministry for you. If you are tired of the same o’l, same o’l, as far as your christian life is concerned then maybe here are the relationships your look-ing for.

We are located at the corner of Parker & Stuart St, Ferryden Park, SA, Phone: 82688722, Mobile 0405319513, [email protected]

We give thanks to God as we say farewell to Mr Syd BilleleyDuring his time at Thebarton and Ferryden Park Syd had supported the ministry of Pastors; “Eckermann, Kloeden, Welke, Weier, Winderlich, Borgas, Edwards, Klein and Clark as well as lay workers Schache and Thiel. Members and visitors alike held him in high esteem and acknowledged his humbleness of spirit and friendliness to all. His faith in his Saviour Jesus served him well both in his own life and the lives of others.” (extracted from the obituary written by the family, amended for spelling).

Pastor Clark talks to the children about hatch, match and despatch. Hatch is when your born, match is when your married and despatch is when, like a gift you’re wrapped up and sent from one place to another. Mr Billeley has been wrapped up and despatched from this world to glory. He has gone home.

May God bring the blessings of his Gospel to the families left

behind.

Ministry of Joan RossWe thank God also for those of our members who live in a local nursing home. One such l a d y i s Jo a n Ro s s . S i n c e t r a n s f e r r i n g f ro m S t S t e p h e n s Lu t h e r a n Congregation in Adelaide city Joan has sought to encourage o t h e rs a n d s u p p o r t t h e p a s t o r ’s m i n i s t r y t o h e r friends and neighbours. This has resulted in a regular

monthly communion service and ongoing pastoral contact for the Gospel. Keep up the good work Joan.

GETTING THE WORD OUTIn early January of this year someone suggested that we open a page on FACEBOOK. Well, to slightly misquote the Apostles and elders in Acts 15:28, “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us”. And so I embarked on a very interesting j o u r n e y i n to t h e wo r l d o f computer chat rooms.

The intention was to open a page for the congregation as a means of getting the word out about the ministry in which we a re i n v o l v e d . Ho w e v e r, I u n w i t t i n g l y o p e n e d t w o FACEBOOK accounts, one under BRYCE CLARK and one entitled ABORIGINAL L U T H E R A N C H U R C H ADELAIDE. As much as I

would like to cancel my own page, I find that I cannot close one in favour of the other because I have very cleverly interlocked them. So cleverly in fact that I don’t know how to undo it. So, for now, I add things to to one page and discover them on the other and some times vic versa.
