We deeply appreciate all Whitmore Charter School parents, teachers and volunteers for their contributions in making WCSAT a wonderful place for learning for our students. I also want to rec- ognize our PBC, which consists of parents and teachers. They have provided many wonderful opportunities for families, including many of the ones listed below. We ap- preciate all of their hard work and efforts. During this school year so many great things happened including; exciting Winter and Spring Performances, assemblies for awards, Living Museum, theater and life skills. We enjoyed Life Skills pizza luncheons, Literacy Night, RoundUp, Spirit Days, Book Fairs, Dance-A-Thon, Wolf-Walk, Santa Breakfast, and a continued building of our school climate and spirit. Let’s not forget the number of students who participated in district-wide activities and received honors during the year for their Peace Essay’s, Masonic Essay’s, Rotary Student of the Month, Every Student Succeeding, Recycling Poster’s, and the list goes on with Whit- more student recognitions! Congratulations to all of you for this wonderful achieve- ment! Cheers to another fantastic year and an amazing school! Please look for a letter in the mail about two weeks before school starts welcoming you and your child to our new school year. The letter will contain more information about our Back-to-School Night, the issuing of technology devices to each student - tablets (grades K-1) and Chromebooks (grades 2-8) and beginning-of-the-year events. Students will be receiving their device, device bag, and earphones during an assigned time at Back-to-School Night. Further information and forms will be sent home in the students’ Welcome Back packets in the summer. I commend our wonderful staff and teachers for working so hard to provide our students with high expectations and a rigorous education. They continually go “above and beyond” to enrich our school with both their time, and talents. They have all spent many “extra” hours contributing to the success of our children and we are so grateful. I, and the entire Whitmore Staff, wish you a very happy summer and hope that you enjoy your precious time during the summer with your children as much as we enjoyed our time with them during the school year. If you ever have any concerns, questions, or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (209) 556-1610 or you may email me at [email protected]. David Viss, Principal

2nd Grade Poem In Your Pocket Day

On April 24, 2015 Whitmore Charter School 2nd graders celebrated National Poem In Your Pocket Day. Students have been growing their love and appreciation of poetry by read-ing a poem each day in April and by creating their very own poems. On Friday April 24th, Mrs. Lewis’s and Mrs. Fischer’s classes celebrated their LOVE of poetry. Students were able to choose from an assortment of poems they wrote and shared their favorite in front of their class. It was a wonderful day of poetry in 2nd grade!

Mrs. Crawford’s and Mrs. Benitez’ 3rd graders took a trip to the Chabot Space and Science Museum in Oakland on May 22nd.

Students visited exhibits, the planetarium, and participated in an ecosystem hike through the redwoods.

Students had fun dressing up as astronauts, identifying plants, trees and leaves, as well as viewing a great show in the planetarium.

Thank you to the CUSD Foun-dation for a grant to help fund the cost of the bus.

Everyone at a great time!
