If you have any questions, concerns or wish to talk about the requirements of the position, please feel free to email me or call me at (281) 580-2060. I would also like to send thanks to our Reeve, Eric Greyfox, for all the effort he has put into his monthly, quarterly and yearly reports in addition to all the efforts he's made in the last year for a smooth bank transition. Thank you Eric! Thank you, Natalia Auvert

Greetings from our Chronicler Lady Racheal no Ansteorra SUBMIT TO YOUR CHRONICLER!!! I need more artwork – songs – poems – cartoons – recipes – photos…we now have access to a color printer and copier so…SEND ME STUFF!!! And the permission release located towards the end of this issue. Til next month, Racheal

Unto the populace! History is what and how you make it. I am looking for stories of those who have witnessed history in our Shire. It doesn't matter if you can't write. Find me. Tell me your story. I will write it for you. What a deal!! Until then, I remain... Forever in Service, Annes

Greetings from our Reeve Lord Eric Greyfox I would still like to find a deputy as it would be easier to teach someone how to take over before just having someone thrown into the position and letting them flounder like a fish out of water. In service, Ld Eric Grayfox

Best regards, Alesone

Guild of St. Camillus de Lellis I would like to thank Chass Brown for submitting this month’s recipe for the Shire of Gate’s Edge’s newsletter. Chass and his wife are members of the St Camillus Guild here in Ansteorra. We all help each other out with any problems that are faced in the SCA and in the mundane world. You do not have to be a member of the SCA to join the Guild. If you have any type of disability or you are a care-giver for someone with a disability – you can join our Guild. There is no membership cost. Our main form of communication is an online forum but you don’t have to join that either. You can send me any questions you have and I will post them for you and get answers. Also if you are planning to travel and need assistance at an SCA event, let the group know and someone will be able to assist you at that event – even if it is in another Kingdom! To join the Guild of St. Camillus de Lellis, please let me know that you are interested and we can talk more. Til next time, Racheal

Meeting Minutes: Newcomers-Jackie. Remember to make her feel welcome! Word fame-Racheal got the coin out of the King's cake at Bordermarch. Loch’s Yule had lovely children's activities, heraldic games, and scavenger hunt. No progress yet on the kitchen equipment. An industrial sewing machine has been found, and the plan is to have it available by February. Trailer Marking Project-the Boy Scout lead only painted the other trailer because it was associated with the Boy Scouts. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact the seneschal. The Business meeting will be moving to the 4th Monday of the Month in January (this month) in room 12 at the same building we use for Populace. Bids for the 2007 event are due by the end of February. The event date is the last weekend in August.

No, kidding there I was… (Also known as Event Stories!) My first event was in An Tir, where I played for four short months before moving to the Barony of the Steppes. It was their University of Ithra or Grand Ithra that was held at Lewis and Clark College in Portland. My then 12-year old son and I attended two classes together that day, The History of the SCA and Chivalry and Etiquette both taught by Sir Brand deux Leon, who made a huge impression of both of us. Adam no longer felt uncomfortable in his 'dress' (the T tunic I had made him) when he saw Sir Brand in a luxurious Houppelande under which he wore a lovely cotehardie which he stripped down to when the room became warm. In the afternoon I took a class on trims and when I came out, I found Sir Brand teaching my son how to play Shut the Box. I'm afraid that very knight I have met has been measured by Sir Brand's gentlemanly qualities. Many have come close, but the only one I have met that has equalled him is the one I have married. :) My second real event was the May Crown Tournament that year in An Tir. I was enthralled by the pagentry, awed by the costumes, wowed by the combat, and amazed at all the goodies that the huge number of merchants had to offer. When I came to Ansteorra, I attended a Business meeting for the Barony of the Steppes in August. There I was made to feel welcome (which I never really had felt in An Tir) and was warmly greeted with a huge hug and a kiss from Baron Fritz. Other than Sir Brand, I had never been spoken to by a noble that I am aware of in An Tir. I attended Steppes Artisan a couple of weeks later and have been an active participant ever since. I don't know that I will ever qualify as an old-timer, as I was in my middle 40's when I began to play this game, but I married a man who has been playing for some thirty years or very close to it. The following recipe is reprinted with permission. It is one from a St. Camillus Guild Member. Banana Split cake (diabetic) 2 pkgs white choc sugar-free instant pudding -- Mix according to directions but use 2% milk 3 sliced banana's 1 pint sliced strawberries low calorie, sugar free whipped topping crushed almonds 2 short bread low sugar crusts in crusts put in a layer of pudding, then a layer of banana's, then a layer of pudding, then a layer of strawberries, then a layer of pudding, then a layer of whipped topping then sprinkle with crushed almonds. Remember to chill it for 30 min or so before cutting. Each pie (we call it cake lol) is 8 pieces. Each piece covers your milk and fruit for one meal. I love it and I am not diabetic. Had to find ways to get my x-wife to eat diabetic stuff... and this was a major hit with her. I do the same as above but use Kiwi and strawberries.... mmmmmmmm Chass Brown A.K.A.
