Hey Kids! Sunday School is Back in Session!

Sundays - 9:30 to 10:30 am Classes for youth from Pre-School through 6th grade.

For Sunday School curriculum, grades Pre-school through 6 will be using The Story!

Pre-school and Kindergarten will meet in the Pre-school classroom #2.

Elementary (grades 1 through 6) will meet in the elementary school wing hallway for music at 9:30 am and then head to classrooms for lessons. * 1-3 will be in 1st/2nd grade classroom * 4-6 will be in the 3rd/4th grade room

This year we will all be studying the same thing from, "The Story". We are hoping that this will bring families together in some discussions with one another. Classes offered for adults at 9:30 AM:..

1. Men’s Class (Church Library) The men will be looking at the Bible study that goes with what we are reading in, "The Story" . They will use video and discussion.

2. Women's Class (Counselor’s Office waiting room) This class will be looking at 31 women of the Bible. We will see what we can learn from the great, and not so great, women in God's word.

3. The Story Class (Family Life Center) This class will be studying the material from the book we are reading. It will have a video each week and discussion questions.

Adult Bible Studies Sunday Mornings, 9:30—10:30 AM

There is room for everyone and something interesting for everyone to learn! Choose one of these classes to learn even more about the

wonderful story of God's great love for us!

Worship Doesn’t Happen by Itself! Get out of the Pews and SERVE! We have a couple areas of worship servant ministries that are in desperate need of volunteers!

Ushers Usher teams are needed for all services, but most critically at 5:30 & 10:45. We have 2 & 1/2 teams for 5:30, 5 for 8:00, and 4 for 10:45. The more teams we have, the less you need to serve. You come to church anyway, why not actively participate while you are here? Ushers provide a much needed service at each worship by handing out bulletins, collecting offering, providing direction during communion, and providing assistance to the lay servers and pastor. Please volunteer to usher by contacting Chuck Granholm at 630-892-9088 or contact the church office.

Nursery Nursery volunteers are critically low. Currently we have only 4 nursery volunteers! And while we greatly appreciate them, they can not cover all three time slots every weekend! We have had to stop advertising that we provide a nursery until we can get enough volunteers to commit to caring for the little ones during 8:00 & 10:45 worship services, and the 9:30 Bible study hour. This is an important ministry to provide for the congregation. If you have children that could use the nursery, please volunteer to take a turn! Or set a great example for your teen and sign up as a team. It’s a fun way to serve the Lord! We are also in need of a person who could take on the scheduling of the Nursery volunteers. This task is done just 4 times per year. Please contact Kim Fuelling at 331-222-6321 or Connie Pittman at 630-892-9309 x-115 with questions, or to volunteer. If you wish to serve in any of these other areas, please contact:

Altar flowers for this weekend are given by

Steven & Heather Claxton in celebration of Alexander’s 7th birthday.

PADS Kendall County PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) starts its seventh season on October 22 at St. Luke’s. Seven local churches serve as hosts for our homeless guests to provide a hot dinner, a safe place to sleep, breakfast and a bag lunch.

St. Luke’s is the Saturday night host from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Please consider volunteering for a 4-hour shift once a month to help those in need. The three shifts are: Shift 1—6:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Shift 2—11:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m. Shift 3—3:00 a.m. - 7:15 a.m.

Our greatest needs are Shift 2 and Shift 3. See Patti and Randy Carter or Lorie Len with any ques-tions. There is also information on the Missions & Ministry Board located by the Church Secretary’s of-fice.

THANK YOU to our past PADS helpers and volunteers! This very important ministry exists because of you.

Each year before PADS starts we have a kickoff meeting. It’s a nice refresher for our current volunteers and provides information to our new volunteers. Watch the newsletter for further details.

Wayside Cross Ministries for September

Thank you for the items you donated for the men in the Master's Touch Ministry at Wayside in August. The toiletry shower was a big success. You donated 17 toothpastes, 38 toothbrushes, 12 toothbrush holders, 10 shampoo/conditioner/body washes, 2 body washes, 18 deodorants 36 razors, 2 shaving creams, 1 hair gel and 1 body lotion. The men are so grateful to all of you.

In September, we will be collecting TOOTHPASTE, something the men always need! Please place your donations in the LWML box located outside the secretary's office.

Thank you from LWML for the help you give us in supporting the men at Wayside. We appreciate all the help you give us in supporting this Ministry.

“…Do not be afraid.. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today…The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:13-14 September 16, 2016 Dear Parents/Guardians, As I write this, I have learned that I missed an important commitment. My first feeling was of remorse, then dread, and now fear of those I disappointed. This is a small matter. But many of us live with much bigger fears and disappointments. The greatest of these for me is the soul of those I love, of children, and those I have an opportunity to witness to. When the fear of my weakness appears, I go to God in prayer. The above verse tells us “… you need only to be still.” So, when life becomes too busy, commitments overwhelm you, or trials seem too heavy, go to God in pray and “be still.” He will deliver you and give you peace. You may still have trials, but you will approach them with the peace that God is at your side. God has been with us at school this week in the following activities: We had a fire drill with the Oswego Fire Department. We had volunteers to supply Hot Lunch to our students while Ted and Ruth Davis

were away. We have been in contact with Deputy Lawson from the Kendall County Police

Department for an Intruder Drill. Deputy Lawson will be around the school often to get to know students and to make them see him as a friend if help should be needed. He has also set a date to talk to our middle school students about Internet Safety. If you see him, it’s not a crisis, it’s a good thing.

Thank you to everyone that supported our fundraiser at Culvers. A good meal and support too!

As you go into the weekend, remember God’s blessings this week. Praise and thank him for his generous mercy and grace. This world is temporary, but He has given us an eternal life through his son, Jesus Christ. God grant you His blessing, Linda King, Principal
