Cedar Class performed a wonderful assembly, where we went back to the Victorian times. It was a joy to witness the children’s enthusiasm and learning of the topic. This was not only for the singing, but also for the historical content and curriculum links. Thank you to the many parents who attended in support of the class. This always makes the assembly even more special for your children. Next week is a very busy week. Please read the key dates carefully and put them in your diary. Dear Parents and Carers, This week has been jam-packed with exciting activities and the value of enjoyment has been on show

throughout. Cedar Class performed a wonderful assembly, where we went back to the Victorian times. It was a joy to witness the children’s enthusiasm and learning of the topic. This was not only for the singing, but also for the historical content and curriculum links. Thank you to the many parents who

London Schools’ Festival of Books

This week, Year 3 Cedar Class, took part in the London Schools’ Festival of Books. They attended a workshop with Isabel Thomas,

author of ‘Little Guides to Great Lives’ learning that famous scientists, artists and

inventors started out just like us.

“I liked learning about Frida Kahlo because she is just like me. She liked drawing and her

pictures were very colourful.” Bahise

On Wednesday 20th June, Year 4 and Year 1/2 went to the Dulwich Picture Gallery to see Zaro Weil

perform some of her poems from her book “Firecrackers”. Year 1/2 went in the morning and

Year 4 went at lunchtime. Zaro Weil read one of my favourite poems called “The Weed” and she was

over the limit funny! They gave us stickers to show that we had visited the Dulwich Picture Gallery, and we all had a fun

afternoon there. I hope we will go there again next year.

Year 5 and Year 6 Parent Social A group of Year 5 and Year 6 parents are going to meet on

Saturday 14 July (1-4pm) in the enclosed picnic area of Peckham Rye near the Sexby Garden. This event will be a

relaxed social in the park and a chance for parents to catch up and in some cases meet for the first time! All Year 5 or

6 parents and their families are welcome to attend!

Educational Visit to Dulwich Picture Gallery

On Wednesday, children in Elm Class travelled to the Dulwich Picture Gallery for the London Schools' Festival of Books. We

had the opportunity to meet poet Zaro Weil who read us some examples of her poetry. We asked her questions about

the writing process and got a signed copy of her latest collection for our classroom.

Kevin: “I liked when the poet read her poems and looking

around the gallery afterwards.”

Rosie: "She read us some sad poetry and some funny poetry."

Marshall: "She read us a poem about a dog and a rap which

we joined in with."

Zaniah: "The poet told us about how she writes."

large sailing boat, shown the various controls and then given control of the boats controls. Once

confident, the children then went out in pairs and sailed in their very own sporty sail boat where they had

to navigate other boats and then come in to dock by themselves. One child commented, ‘This was the

best day ever!’
