NEWSLETTER Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization ORIC I S T Institute of Space Technology Islamabad-Pakistan IST ORIC has recently established a 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping Innovation Laboratory (i-Lab). i-Lab facilitates students to translate theory into innovations through design thinking approach. As, modeling and prototype development are imperative in engineering processes, i-Lab provides a conducive environment to develop prototypes/MVPs by employing 3D printing and similar techniques. A number of projects are being carried out at i-Lab including 3D near field electro-spinning. One of the projects developed at i-Lab won the Innovation & Technology Award at 4th Invention to Innovation Summit, KP – 2018. Internship is an excellent way to apply classroom knowledge in a professional work setting; to network with professionals and to build one’s resume. IST ORIC Internship Program provides numerous opportunities for students to get an internship in top industries of Pakistan; like Ravi Autos, Millat Equipment, Millat Tractors and National Institute of Electronics etc. More than 180 graduating students were provided internships in high-tech companies under our internship program. Failure Analysis Center (FAC) also offers 6 to 8 weeks internships to graduate and undergraduate students of IST and other universities. Summer internship program was conducted over weeks starting from July 2 to August 10, 2018. The learning modules for interns included failure analysis and prevention concepts; complemented with hands-on training, lab sessions, and case studies. Certificates were awarded to the interns by Dean IST on successful completion of the internship.
