On the 15th of June East Victoria Park Primary School competed in the
Interschool Winter carnival. The teams consisted of football, netball, soccer,
basketball and hockey. All our teams did extremely well and fought their hardest
all day. Thank you to all the teachers who helped train our teams and the parents
who came and spectated.
EVPPS 3 YEAR OLD PLAYGROUP Teddy Bears Picnic Excursion On Wednesday the 24th of May, our EVPPS 3 Year Old Playgroup headed to The
Teddy Bears Picnic at Victoria Park Leisure Life. Our children and the playgroup
parents enjoyed a fun-filled morning of face painting, animal farm, singing, a craft
activity, games and more. The children brought their teddy bears, a picnic rug and
had a lovely morning tea. We would like to thank Mrs Smit for kindly organising such a
fantastic excursion for our prospective students. Thank you Mel!

BEEBOTS VISIT US FROM SCITECH
This term we were lucky enough to have some robots called Beebots visit us from Scitech. It was great to see so many classes having a go with the Beebots and having fun with them. The children had lots of fun learning how to programme the Beebots and put in to action their coding skills, not to mention their problem solving skills. Well done to Mrs Krieg's class who are pictured here.

NAIDOC CELEBRATIONS
On the 30th of June (last day of term 2), East Victoria Park Primary School will be celebrating NAIDOC week. There
will be a full day of activities for our students to enjoy. Parents are invited to attend the morning session and join in
the fun (8.50-10.40am). Some activities include boomerang decorating, damper making and dream time stories. A
very special thankyou to Bunnings East Victoria Park for their very generous donations towards equipment for the

RM 1 – ‘THE WILD THINGS’ BOOK CHARACTERS
During our Art lessons recently, students in Room 1 drew an art piece based on the
book, ‘The Wild Things’ and wrote about their characters as well. The students
were so excited they came to the office to ‘show off’ their lovely work. Check out
some of the beautiful art work which is proudly on display in the office. Well done
and congratulations boys and girls. Here are some extracts of some of their work.
‘My character is big, young and wild. It’s colour is green. It has yucky teeth, lumpy
finders and stubby short legs. It has lots of eye lashes and has a fluffy head and
scaly arms. It’s name is Poh.’
By Katherine Bisley Year 1 Rm 1
‘My character has a heart nose and also he is a monster. He has rotten teeth and a fat belly. He has only four
fingers and two arms. He is tall and fat. He likes to eat fish and chips. “I like icecream too!” he says.

Parliament and Civics Education Rebate
(PACER)
The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) is an initiative of the Australian
Government which provides some financial assistance for students in Year 4-12 across
Australia to travel to Canberra, the nation’s capital.
Students from our school will soon be undertaking an education tour of the national capital. Students will be given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national
capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the
Australian Government is contributing funding of $240.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education
Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the
excursion.
