« Like in Homer’s Tale, the whole island is strewned over, byyellowed bones, by picnic’s relics of the land’s devouts. And, moreover, paved, literally, of flame red flagstone:unmanned gravestones uncemented, toppled, cleaved. » (*)
The painters of the “Group of Seven” turned their back toToronto to hold their pallet and to bring images of a nature, virgin of all settlement. Or, almost. When we settle in Canada,in particular from Europe, and leave the city, it is the mostimmediate experience: the untamed widespread landscapeswith incredible spreading confirmed by maps. Obviously, thereare First Nations, but their dissemination and their numberdo not make them really visible one century after the “Seven”.As a result, facing the promise of an easy-to-model future, should we loose ourselves into the intoxicating nostalgiawhich goes with the fragments and the Indo-Europeantragedies sung by Mandelstam, in antic Armenia ?
A month of May, to come with exams, with the end of thecourses, to spend also at the cinema, at the theater andattending to lectures. Abundance of art books likewise.

This piece, a cult hit onstage and infilm, has become synonymous withscathing comedy that denouncesthe excesses of today’s society. Itspremise begins with some charac-ters tracking down a complete idiotand inviting him to dinner with theintention of mocking him the entireevening without him ever realizingit. But what happens when thegame does not unfold as planned, when nothing seems to stop the in-vited idiot from making thingsworse? The result, much to ouramusement, is one of the most hi-larious and intelligent comedies ofour age. Nothing is left to chance.Between continuous mistaken iden-tity, ongoing word games, andtable-turning situations, it is impos-sible for us to avoid both a seriouscase of the giggles and a critical
look at society. We are sure to seehumor displayed in all its forms associety’s excess is gleefully de-nounced.

Modernité et altérité de Blaise Cendrars May 27
Presented by Marie-PauleBerranger; Chair at Caen Basse-Normandie University, special-ized in modernpoetry, short writingand minor literature
Blaise Cendrars has builthis worldwide travelerreputation and has evensuffered from it some-times - isn't he consid-ered with disregard inthe "Traité du Style" byAragon or in the "Entre-tiens" by Breton, just asSoupault, as a traveler
poet? We will question any link be-tween modernity and alterity, ex-ploring the motors of adventures
and poetry's principlesof a work with nocommons measurethat go back and forthfrom poetry to novel, from novel to true sto-ries and auto-fiction.
