Staying the course As we near the end of our first full week, I think the reality of our changed circumstances is now challenging us to take some deep breaths. The ongoing struggles with internet connections or devices that are not doing what we want them to do is creating great frustration. We are all feeling frazzled and it is draining for staff and their families as well as students and their families. We do understand. We appreciate that remote learning is having an impact on us all, in a range of ways. A glass half full Even though we have been working and learning in challenging times, it is important to celebrate the amazing skills, initiative and creativity we are seeing – from parents, from staff and from our amazing students. It is terrific to see how our school values – Respect, Responsibility, Personal Best, Initiative and Creativity are playing out, with many examples from so many people, in the online space and also at school as we support people to connect and continue their learning. I have seen families really commit to learning spaces for their children, which has been challenging when there is more than one student in the family to be accommodated. I have seen online parent meetings where parents have shared their tips for uploading work with one another, I have seen students share what they have learned about operating the technology with their peers and their teachers. And I have seen teachers take the challenge of the technology and create so many ways to produce high quality learning. I am in awe of the efforts everyone is making and you all, every person, need to congratulate yourselves on what you are achieving. Thank you. Assembly Friday 24 th April – online We are gradually working on an online Assembly. We believe for everyone to log on at the same time, will be too difficult for some peoples internet capacity and so we are putting together a filmed Assem- bly. We will send a link out to you to view a private online space where you can view our Assembly. I am very proud of our Year 6 students who are all contributing to putting this together. We will allow the link for a few days and then remove it each week before the next Assembly is uploaded. This way families can log in and watch it in their own time, while at the same time preserving their internet streaming and download ability. Please do not hesitate to provide me with feedback after you view this we are learning and it is a first for us, so we will improve as we go and your thoughts and ideas are very welcome. FROM THE PRINCIPAL (contd) Students who are unable to be supervised at home Each week we have had a handful of students at school, from families who have not been able to supervise their children at home. Students onsite have been working on their devices, at individual tables separate from other students, as if they have been at home and accessing their learning remotely. It is very important that if you find you are unable to supervise your children at home, and no other arrangements can be made, that you provide the school with notice of your intention to send them to school, the week before you send them. This is easily done. Parents can contact the office by phone or email and Cheryl will forward out the online attendance form for you to complete. This must be received before a child will be allowed at attend school. This is important because we need to make sure we have enough people onsite to supervise children. Most staff are working from home. ANZAC Day As many of you are aware, all the traditional services for ANZAC day have been cancelled. We will be paying our ANZAC Day respects through our Assembly on Friday. We are striving to ensure you have enough information about your children’s learning each week. This is shared, firstly through Class Dojo together with webex connecting links. Please do not hesitate to contact us via the school telephone or email, if you have any queries or concerns. Sue Izard Principal (Acting)

On Monday during Humanities, Grade 1/2 students focussed on Anzac Day. They drew a poppy each and had them made into a special wreath that we can use to commemorate Anzac Day this. Doesn’t it look fantastic? Well done Grade 1/2!
