Parent Survey At Yokine PS we are constantly reviewing our direction to ensure that we are fully supporting the academic and social emotional requirements of our students. We actively engage in processes that support the building of positive parent partnerships and ensuring that you are aware of our direction and have input into this. Parents have a number of avenues for this: School Board and P & C. To provide another avenue for this, we have developed a parent, student and staff survey. I encourage you to participate in the survey as your input is highly valued and respected and will help us continue to value add to our direction and consequently positive engagement with our parents. At the end of the survey, the results will be published. The survey will close on the 13 May 2016. EASTER HAT PARADE This year’s Easter Hat Parade was a hugely successful event. All students put a lot of effort into creating wonderful hats. I was especially impressed with the senior Year 5/6 class with 100% participation and effort. They made some extraordinary hats and were very good role models and examples to the whole school. Thank you to all the enthusiastic parents and family who attended the event.

YPS FETE—WHAT A FANTASTIC DAY!!

The YPS Choir opened the fete and then the fun began! There was lots to see and do and things to buy and eat! There were stalls that sold plants, books, cakes, lollies, mystery jars, pictures, all sorts of goodies as well as fun to be had with the dunk machine, horse rides, Scout climbing frame, giant slide, animal farm, magician and game fun area. When you got hungry there were hamburgers, a café and slushies to wash it all down with.

Tennis Parents Great to see some of our parents, Brad Gannon, Ian Phil-lips, and Alison Bettesworth, having a relaxing game of tennis one morning before school! Staff were very enter-tained and it made their morning. You are most welcome to make this a regular event.

Thank You We were spoilt by Max’s parents just before Easter, with some fresh out of the oven hot cross buns for morning Tea for the staff. They were delicious and enjoyed by all. Thank you so much Mr & Mrs Skerratt

Sharing our Past Annabel’s dad Andrew Grieve came in on Friday to talk to Room 6 about growing up in Australia and then moving back to Scotland where he was born. He always knew that he would return to Australia one day as he loved the weather and the beaches. The students got to see pictures of an old telephone, a television and a computer. The students in room 6 were very curious about the ‘olden day’ and had lots of questions. In the picture Annabel is holding her Dads fluffy toy from when he was a baby. Thank you Mr Grieve for sharing your memories with Room 6 .

IMPORTANT CANTEEN NEWS

Over the past 18 months, the canteen has been running at a loss. The P&C has tried different ways to keep the canteen afloat, with no success. Therefore, from the advice and guidance of the P&C auditor and the WA Canteen Association, the P&C has made the unfortunate decision to close the canteen 2 days a week. As Week 2 of next term, the canteen will only be open on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you have any questions for queries, please do not hesitate in contacting a member of the P&C or via email at [email protected] Thank you, Yokine Primary School P&C
