Welcome back to learning at school for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 Students On Tuesday we had Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 classes at school for the first time in nine weeks. It was so lovely to see everyone as they returned. Thank you so much to the parents who have followed all our new procedures – the arrival and departure routines so far have run very smoothly and this has supported all children to settle back to a daily school routine. As with remote learning, this is a new chapter in Education and we expect to learn many valuable lessons over the next few weeks. We will adapt as we go based on how students adjust to the routines we put in place to support hygienically safe practices and, where possible, social distancing. National Simultaneous Storytime Yesterday, children at school and remote learning at home all watched W hitney and Britney Chicken Divas, a picture story by Lucinda Gifford. National Simultaneous Storytime, is held each year and host- ed by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illus- trated by an Australian Author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country as a promotion of literacy and reading, encouraging everyone to participate. This year is the 20 th year of National Sim- ultaneous Storytime and although the public readings could not occur this year, Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas could be read in schools or accessed remotely via online links. The story reading was followed up by a variety of craft activities associated with the story – at school we saw feather boas made from crepe paper, flexible paper chickens cut out and carefully constructed with split pins so they could move their wings, head and legs and some amazing dancing of the Chicken Dance by our students who filmed their dances and posted them on Google Classroom or Class Dojo. It has been fantastic to see childrens creativity and enthusiasm with their activities and submissions relating to this great Australian-made story. I had a great deal of fun putting the reading together as a video presenta- tion and Judy Thomson did an amazing job compiling all the activities available for students to choose from. Thanks and well done to everyone. Felicity - for always trying her best. Joe - for his wonderful smile and attitude when returning to school. Charlte - for a positive return to school! Nakita - for her detailed and creative narrative writing plan.

FROM THE PRINCIPAL.

Welcome back to learning at school for Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 Students On Tuesday we had Foundation, Year 1 and Year 2 classes at school for

the first time in nine weeks. It was so lovely to see everyone as they returned. Thank you so much to the parents who have followed all our new procedures – the arrival and departure routines so far have run very

smoothly and this has supported all children to settle back to a daily school routine. As with remote learning, this is a new chapter in Education and we expect to learn many valuable lessons over the next few weeks. We will adapt as we go based on how students adjust to the routines we put in place to

support hygienically safe practices and, where possible, social distancing. National Simultaneous Storytime Yesterday, children at school and remote learning at home all watched Whitney and Britney Chicken

Divas, a picture story by Lucinda Gifford. National Simultaneous Storytime, is held each year and host-ed by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illus-

This year is the 20th year of National Sim-ultaneous Storytime and although the public readings could not occur this year, Whitney and Britney

FROM THE PRINCIPAL (contd) DET Education emails Education emails are slowly being migrated to a new system, primarily to increase users mail box sizes but also to a more streamlined way of managing DET email accounts. For decades we have used emails

within the Department of Education that have the tag @edumail.vic.gov.au. Now we have migrated to a new address which is @education.vic.gov.au. This will affect our school email and the new address will now be [email protected] . Please do not worry, however, as this new address is

linked to the old address mailbox so we will still receive the emails you send to the school, even if you use the old address. We will update this information on our web page/facebook page and other publica-tions with the school contacts listed.

Sue Izard Principal (Acting)

BUS TRAVELLERS If your child is not going home on the bus please to contact the school office so that we can update the bus roll. This will save a lot of worry and confusion for your child at home time. If the school does not receive a message about your child travelling home on the bus, they will be put on the bus and marked on the roll.
