The intention is for parents to provide additional considerations or factors for us to add the information we know about the children. Unfortunately, we are not able to satisfy requests asking us not to consider your child as suitable for a split class or requests for a specific teacher or to be in a class with a specific child/ren. It is a strong possibility that your child will be in a split class at some time during their schooling. The needs of all students are considered and students are placed into classes based on their academic needs, friendships groupings, behaviour, work habits, number of places in a class, etc. We endeavour where possible to place students who have been in a split class into a straight class for the following year. We have a limited number of possibilities for classes and attempt to remix the classes based on all of these educational factors and more. A great deal of thought goes into class placement and all children’s needs are considered and discussed. Reporting to Parents contains functions for the emailing of student reports to parents or other recipients. This method means: - email links can be sent to external agencies, multiple parents or guardians depending on the student’s circumstances; - the text of the email containing the report link can be varied; and - parent access to student reports can be tracked. Valid parent email information will be required in SIS. Parents will need to confirm that they are able to receive reports electronically and be notified via other communication channels when report emails are expected so that they can follow up non delivery. Principal’s Message

Dear Parents,

CLASS REQUESTS for 2020 I am starting to receive requests from parents on class placement for 2020. The intention is for parents to provide additional considerations or factors for us to add the information we know about the children. Unfortunately, we are not able to satisfy requests asking us not to consider your child as suitable for a split class or requests for a specific teacher or to be in a class with a specific child/ren. A great deal of thought goes into class placement and all children’s needs are considered and discussed.

Morning Tea Thank You

On Thursday, 28 November, parents and community members were invited to a morning tea as a thank you for all of the work and

support that they offer our students through school programmes. Morning tea was a great success. Thank you to Mrs Burt for organising the event and the wonderful group of Year 6 students who assisted her. Carols played quietly in the background. Many parents attended however, there were many parents who were not able to attend.

To all of the parents and community members that have supported our activities by: assisting in the library, listening to reading in the classrooms, mentoring our students, coaching teams and transporting teams, working in the canteen, helping at school events, athletics carnival, helping in the kindergarten and Pre Primary, supporting the fund raising events by purchasing tickets, baking cakes, dropping off paper, egg cartons, etc for student use, sewing cushions as art projects, or costumes for the graduation play, costumes for assemblies and so on.

Also, to the Dads who have helped to build or make things for the children. Attending school events, such as assemblies, sporting events etc and provide moral support for your children. To the group of parents who regularly work on the Multi Lit program with our students, thank you. A special thank you goes to, the members of the School Council and P & C, who work throughout the year on numerous roles and activities. These are the many ways that the community enhances the education opportunities for our students.

Earth Science WA Incursions This term the Year 1, 3, 4 and 6 students participated in incursion activities with Earth Science Western Australia (ESWA) on different earth science topics. The students took part in some hands-on activities and learned about how we can test for minerals in rocks, what makes up soil, how to make a fake fossil and also enjoyed mining the sandpit! Thanks to ESWA and ConocoPhillips, for an exciting series of incursions.

Community Christmas Hampers

The idea is that the school community can donate items to be given in

Christmas hampers to families in our

community (Cockburn/Fremantle) who are finding it tough over Christmas. I will take the items to my church, who will make up the hampers and deliver them to families in the Cockburn/Fremantle area. The suggested items for families to bring in are:

Christmas pudding Fruit mince Pies Long-life (UHT) Custard Chips Microwave Popcorn Biscuits Curry sauce Rice Pasta Pasta sauce Tomato sauce Cereal Sugar Coffee Tea Long-life juice Fizzy drink Serviettes But of course anything will help - main thing is for it to not need refrigeration (until opened). Feel free to give me a call for further info, or if anything needs clarifying - 0411 156 683. Joel Candy Samson School Chaplain

WOOLWORTHS REWARDS Below are some items that we purchased for the school students to use. There are two sets of lego blocks, kinetic sand, pulleys and funnels, 1cm interlocking cubes, constructions kits, a green screen (This allows various backgrounds to be put into video students create on the ipads) and some mats for the Bee Bots. There are 10 themed mats that the students can use to create a code to make the Bee Bots move on a specific path.

Thank you very much to all of the families and staff who collected tokens. We were able to gain these resources for the students to use as a result of all of the tokens collected from Woolworths earlier in the year.

THE LITTLE LUNCH BOX In Term 4 The Little Lunchbox remains open for two days, Thursday and Friday. If you have a free hour or two to volunteer in the canteen, please see Marcia. Thank you to all of the volunteers who find time to help in the canteen. For inquiries call Marcia on 0408 906 576.

P & C Announcement Samson Primary School P&C is looking for a volunteer Bookkeeper or Accountant to assist the Treasurer with MYOB and general Accounting queries.

We do not expect this to be time-consuming role for someone with prior MYOB experience.

Specifically, we require assistance with the below:

Initial

- Transition to a cloud-based MYOB system (Account Right 2019.2) - Changing the MYOB financial year from [July to June] TO [January to December]

Ongoing

- General MYOB queries (best practice guidelines, training and point of contact for queries) - Payroll queries (including Single Touch Payroll) - End of Month reporting support - End of Financial Year guidance

The P&C requires MYOB to manage its finances and adhere to obligations including:

- (Canteen) employees (payroll, tax, ATO reporting and superannuation) - Canteen income and expenses - Fundraising and donations - Incorporated association and charity annual reporting.

Unfortunately, our existing P&C members do not have prior MYOB knowledge.

If we are unable to recruit a volunteer for this position, we will need to pay for assistance which will come from P&C contributions / fundraising.
