Newsletter No. 2 February 12 th 2020 The School Council here at James Cook Primary School enjoys an active and invested team comprised of seven parents and four staff members. The school council oversees the governance and enhancement of the school programs, facilities and finances. Meetings are held twice each term. We currently have five parent member vacancies for March 2020-March 2022 tenure on our School Council. Nominations for these positions are open to parents of James Cook Primary School students to either self-nominate or be nominated, until Wednesday 4 th March 2020, at 4.00pm. The first meeting of the 2020-2021 School Council will be on Tuesday 24 th March 2020 at 6.30pm in the staffroom. Nomination forms and information about the role of a School Council member are available at the Office. If this a role you might be interested in and you have any questions about being a School Councillor or the nomination process, please contact me at the office. Should we receive more nominations than places available, a ballot will be conducted. Training is available to first-time council members. Meet the Teacher opportunities will be available on Thursday 20 th February 2020. Appointments can be made with your child’ren’s teacher online. Appointments for all parents of all year levels can now be made via www.schoolinterviews.com.au with the event code py7ew. If you need support making a booking, please contact the office for assistance. Interpreters can be arranged if required. We wear our James Cook Primary School uniform proudly and is an expected requirement of enrolment at our school. Please read the current JCPS uniform policy provided to ensure that your child is fully decked out. Believe to Suceed activities have commenced, students whose payments for these activities have been received have received their Acacia, Bluegum, Correa or Waratah house t’shirts. We are however awaiting the delivery of some larger sizes and expect them soon. Students will be notified ahead of time when they are required to wear them to school. Mark Friday the 6 th March 2020 as a special day on the calendar. You will all be aware of the devastating bushfires in Victoria that began over the holiday break. Four of our community-minded Year Six students, Elisa, Risha, Amelia and Sanika, have proposed a fundraising activity, to raise money for the Bushfire Appeal in support of the students and families affected by the fires. The day will comprise – Casual Dress for $2 per student; Cookies and Popcorn for $1 each sold at recess; Sausages in Bread for $2.50 each (preordered) for lunch; Soft Drinks for $1.50 at 3.30pm. Donation boxes will also be placed in the office from now until the Friday the 13 th March 2020. Your support will be much appreciated. The School Council here at James Cook Primary School enjoys an active and
