During the Lenten season it
is common for us to ask
questions, questions like: “Why
did God do this? Why did He do
it the way that He did? Wasn’t
there an easier way?” Perhaps
the following devotional thought
by Herman Gockel will help
answer some of those questions:
A young man who had been
away from home for several
years received word that his
father was critically ill. Guilt-
stricken because he had not
written to his father in months,
he boarded the first available
plane and hurried home. He was
determined, at this late moment, to
make up for his neglect and to
assure the dying man of his filial
affection.
To his dismay he arrived just an
hour too late. The angel of death
had deprived him of that precious
moment of reunion he had craved
so earnestly. It was a crushed
young man who watered his pillow
with tears that night. If only he
could know how his father felt
toward him in his dying moments!

2020 Lent Worship Series
Official Act – 02/05/2020
Received into membership
through Adult Confirmation
classes were Brian & Trista
Nienhaus and children Dylan and
Isabelle.
The next morning his sister
handed him a letter his father had
written him a few days before
but which had never been
mailed. Tears filled the young
man's eyes as he eagerly read
each line. His father bore him no
ill will. He still loved him, as he
had down through the years. The
letter was signed "With love.
Your Father."
In the Gospel of St. John is a
sentence that should affect us
very much the same as the dying
father's letter affected his guilt-
stricken son. Near the opening of
the Lenten story the
evangelist tells us of Jesus:
"Having loved His own, He
loved them unto the end." (John
13:1)
If any guilt-ridden sinner
needs the reassurance of His
heavenly Father's tender mercy,
let him read our Savior’s love
letter in the ’teen chapters of St.
John. Standing under the very
shadow of the cross, knowing
that He would soon lay down His
life for the sins of the world, the
Redeemer is at great pains to
assure us of His dying love.
"As My Father hath loved me,
so have I loved you. Continue ye
in My love.... Greater love hath
no man than this, that a man lay
down His life for His friends....
The Father Himself loves you,
because you have loved Me and
have believed that I came out
from God.” (John 15:9, 13;
16:27)
It should be a source of endless
comfort to us that on the night
before His crucifixion, with the
agonies of Gethsemane and
Calvary only a matter of hours
away, our Savior sought again and
again to assure us of His love.
And having done His best to
assure us, He walked resolutely
into the jaws of death - to give us
life. "Having loved His own, He
loved them unto the end."
His love, what mortal thought
can reach! What mortal tongue
display!
Imaginations utmost stretch
In wonder dies away.
Dear Lord, while we our
praises sing And grateful voices
blend,
May every heart with rapture
sing: "He loved me to the end!”
In His Service,
Pastor Osladil

824 Wisconsin Ave., Sheboygan
Doors open at 6:30pm Admission is free and open to the public.
A freewill offering will be taken to help support the music department at LHS.
While it is not uncommon for the performing groups of LHS to sing or play sacred music, this concert will specifically feature only sacred music, or music with a central biblical theme. Each group is preparing beautifully written music that will make for a memorable evening of praise through music. Of special note this year, the Konzertchor will be performing the world premiere
of a breathtaking new work, “Te Deum”, by composer Michael John Trotta, featuring brass and organ. Please consider attending what promises to be a wonderful night of music praise!

Raising the Roof Moses erected the tabernacle. He laid its bases, and set up its frames, and put
in its poles, and raised up its pillars. And he spread the tent over the tabernacle
and put the covering of the tent over it, as the Lord had commanded Moses.
Exodus 40:18-19 ESV
The Lord continues to bless the efforts of our Worship & Fine Arts Center
building addition in many ways. I wanted to see the construction progress after five
truckloads of steel trusses had been delivered that day. As I entered the inner
structure and looked up, I was amazed with the progress of the roof trusses being
75% done along with the catwalk in the theatre. Every day there is something new
and exciting taking place on our campus. The roof will hopefully be covered by
early March as they continue to lay roof trusses throughout the rest of the building.
Just as the Israelites were in constant motion during the transition from Egypt
to the Holy Land, Moses focused on setting up a place for worship first and
foremost. The founders of our school did the same with our prayer chapel for the
staff inside the gym entrance doors when our school building was first built. It
reminded me of how we are blessed to raise our prayers to God and look to Him
for guidance. Our days are so fast-paced and change so rapidly with the flurry of
activities that seem to overwhelm our lives. We need to take time to seek peace
from above through scripture and conversation (prayer) with God. Don’t forget to
look up and send some thoughts to God through some knee mail!
We pray your Lenten season has focus in preparation for Easter, when we can
all lift our voices and ‘raise
the roof’! Thank you for
your continued prayers
and support as we
continue to Prepare for
the Future.
