Dear Parents, carers and community members, External Validation and School Improvement Cycle Continuing from last week, we will share our validation results for the remaining two domains. This week we will look at the Teaching and Leading domains. Effective Classroom Practice ~ Sustaining and Growing In schools that excel, all teachers are committed to identifying, understanding and implementing the most effective explicit teaching methods, with the highest priority given to evidence-based teaching strategies. Data Skills Use ~ Sustaining and Growing In schools that excel, student assessment data is regularly used school-wide to identify student achievements and progress, in order to reflect on teaching effectiveness and inform future school directions. Professional Standards ~ Sustaining and Growing In schools that excel, all staff demonstrate personal responsibility for maintaining and developing their professional standards. Professional Standards are a reference point for whole school reflection and improvement. NAIDOC WEEK 2019

NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. This year the theme is - VOICE, TREATY, TRUTH.

LET’S WORK TOGETHER As part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations at North Haven Public School, the School Representative Council will be selling ‘Koori Kids’ wristbands for $2 each. Students may also purchase a 2018 wristband for an additional 20c when buying the 2019 one, if they wish. The wristbands are now available at recess and lunchtime in Area A. They are always very popular, so bring your money in as soon as you can and join in the celebrations! Mrs Skerritt Aboriginal Education Co-ordinator

Woolworths Earn & Learn Woolworth’s Earn & Learn program has now finished for 2019. We ask families to return any stickers they have collected and any sticker sheets. Sticker sheets do not have to be completely full to be returned to school. Thank you to students and families for your support. We look forward to redeeming our sticker sheets for educational resources for our great school.

Marlie Bell Breaks 19 Year Record!!

The 2019 Athletics Carnival high jump events were held last week at school. The highlight was the record-breaking leap of Marlie Bell in the Junior Girls event. Marlie broke Kirsten Preece’s record of 1.10m by 4cm, leaping 1.14m.
