News from the Classroom...

November is here! Another month means more learning and new goals. We will continue on

the road to become bi-literate. It is important that we work together to achieve this goal. I

will be guiding the way to success and making sure I am supporting every single one of your

children and meeting their individual needs, but with your help the road will be easier for

your child. Remember to be a role model for your children. Children imitate what they see in

the adults around them. If your child sees that you have the habit of reading at least 10

minutes a day they will be more interested in learning how to read. Let’s motivate them and

teach them that reading is fun! Students will be learning about “the handiest people and

things in the world” and the importance of hard work. They will be learning about commit-

ment, thankfulness, generosity and joyfulness to help them become better people. Once

again thank you parents for all of your support and we are looking forward to this new

month full of new experiences, activities and lots of learning.

!Noviembre ha llegado! Un mes mas es igual a mas aprendizaje y nuevas metas. Contin-

uaremos en el camino a la alfabetización en ambos idiomas. Es importante que continuemos

trabajando juntos para cumplir con las metas. Estaré guiando este camino al éxito y siempre

tomando en cuenta las necesidades individuales y específicas de cada uno de sus hijos.

Recuerden ser un modelo a seguir para sus hijos. Los niños imitan todo lo que ven de no-

sotros, los adultos. Si su hijo(a) ve que usted tiene el habito de la lectura y lee por lo menos

10 minutos al día su hijo(a) se interesara más por el mundo de la lectura. Debemos motivar

a nuestros pequeños e inculcarles que leer es divertido. Los estudiantes estarán aprendiendo

sobre las personas y cosas más útiles del mundo y la importancia del trabajo duro y los frutos

que esto trae. Las virtudes de este mes serán compromiso, agradecimiento, generosidad y

alegría. Una vez más les agradezco a todos ustedes padres de familia por su apoyo, estamos

emocionados por este nuevo mes lleno de nuevas experiencias, actividades y mucho aprendi-

zaje.

Level I: 1st & 2nd

November is here and so is our 2nd quarter! We began our 2nd quarter with our first explora-

tion to the Marana Pumpkin Patch. Students enjoyed every activity interacting with nature

and animals. We are very proud of our students for showing all the virtues learned in class

during our exploration like responsibility and self-discipline. We would also like to thank our

volunteer parents for all of your help and support in this exploration.

We would like to congratulate the students with the most Accelerated books passed with a

100% in both English and Spanish. In first grade, Renata Berrellez with 16 books, Ernesto

Castellanos with 16 books and Mariarenee Morales with 17 books. In second grade, Isabel-

la Diaz with 16 books and Ana Sofia Yocupicio with 18 books. Let’s keep reinforcing read-

ing at home for students to achieve their benchmarks.

During this month we are celebrating Day of the Dead with different cultural activities. Level

I will be decorating “calaverita cookies” and also creating their own “Literary Calaveras”.

This month we are practicing the following virtues: thankfulness, generosity, joyfulness and

commitment. Please help your children reinforce responsibility, respect and kindness at

home with different activities.

Noviembre llegó y también nuestro segundo cuarto! Iniciamos el segundo cuarto con nues-

tra primera exploración a Marana Pumpkin Patch donde los alumnos disfrutaron cada una

de las actividades y tuvieron la oportunidad de interactuar con la naturaleza y convivir con

los animales de la granja. Nos sentimos orgullosas de nuestros estudiantes por demostrar

y poner en práctica todas las virtudes aprendidas en clase como la responsabilidad y la au-

todisciplina. También queremos agradecer la ayuda de los padres que nos acompañaron

en esta exploración.

Queremos felicitar a los estudiantes que pasaron con 100% sus libros de A.R. en ambos

lenguajes inglés y español. En primer grado, Renata Berrellez con 16 libros, Ernesto Cas-

tellanos con 16 libros y Mariarenee Morales con 17 libros. En segundo grado, Isabella Díaz

con 16 libros y Ana Sofía Yocupicio con 18 libros. Les pedimos que sigan apoyando a sus

hijos en la lectura para que logren alcanzar sus metas académicas.

En este mes estaremos celebrando el Día de los Muertos con diferentes actividades cul-

turales. El nivel I estará decorando galletas de calaveritas y creando sus propias calaveras

literarias. Durante este mes estaremos practicando las siguientes virtudes: gratitud, gener-

osidad, alegría y compromiso. Favor de ayudar a sus hijos a reforzar estas virtudes en

casa.

The month of November brings many learning opportunities for our students. In

Level II: 3rd & 4th

this period, there is a rigorous advance in the school program for each of our classes. Attendance and punctuality are of extreme importance to be able to achieve academic progress. Participation in the activities of “Dia de los muer-tos” will be a grand cultural experience for all of us, make sure all the family joins us! In this quarter, we will have the reading of the chapter book “Cajas de Cartón” by Francisco Jimenez , through which the students will learn comprehension strategies along with civil rights which can be applied in both the English and Spanish classes. On the week of November 4-8 we will have formal reading evaluations in Spanish. We are counting on you to supervise the daily AR read-ing at home, as well as homework and signing of the agenda once everything is completed. Our weather is getting cooler, let's take care of the children's health and avoid spreading infections. Have a great Thanksgiving!! El mes de noviembre trae diversas oportunidades de aprendizaje para nues-tros estudiantes. En este periodo se avanza rigurosamente en los programas de cada una de las clases. La puntual asistencia a la escuela hace la diferen-cia en el progreso académico. La participación en las actividades del Día de los muertos será una gran experiencia cultural para todos, ¡acompáñenos con su familia! La clase de Español agrega en este cuarto la lectura grupal del libro Cajas de Cartón del autor Francisco Jiménez,a través del cual aprenderán estrategias de comprensión lectora que son aplicables en las clases tanto de inglés como español, aunado al tema de los derechos civiles. La semana del 4-8 de noviembre habrá evaluaciones formales de lectura en Español. Contamos con usted para con la supervisión diaria de la lectura AR en casa diariamente, así como la agenda revisada y firmada diariamente. Dear Parents,

Our first quarter is over and we have seen an improvement in the

academic level of our students. However, in some cases, students

have not yet been able to build reading habits that are strong

enough to reach the Accelerated Reading goals. These habits are

necessary to reach the different benchmarks established by our

school. Please talk to your son/daughter about the importance of

reading their A.R books. We appreciate your support at home with

homework since it is crucial for your scholar’s learning.. Please do

not hesitate and contact us in case of any questions or comments

regarding your child’s academic progress.

Estimados padres de familia,

El primer cuarto concluyó y hemos visto progreso académico en

nuestros estudiantes. Sin embargo, en algunos casos, los alumnos

no han logrado formar los hábitos de lectura necesarios para alcan-

zar la meta esperada en el programa de Lectura Acelerada. Estos

hábitos son esenciales para alcanzar las metas establecidas por la

escuela en las diferentes materias. Por favor, hable con su hijo (a)

sobre la importancia de la lectura en casa. Apreciamos su apo-

yo con tareas, ya que éstas son de gran ayuda para el aprendizaje

The end of the first quarter is a time of reflection for Level IV. During the first nine weeks of the school year, students are in the process of understanding how the level works and what is required of them to be successful for the rest of the year. This means that many students will commit mistakes during this process. The most suc-cessful students are the ones that learn from their mistakes and understand that by setting goals and implementing plans to achieve their goals they can improve.

El final del primer cuarto es un momento de reflexión para el nivel IV. Durante las primeras nueve semanas del año escolar, los estudiantes están en proceso de en-tender cómo funciona el nivel y lo que se requiere para que tengan éxito durante el resto del año. Esto significa que muchos estudiantes cometen errores durante este proceso. Los estudiantes más exitosos son los que aprenden de sus errores y en-tienden que al fijar metas e implementar sus planes para lograr sus objetivos les ayuda a mejorar.
