First Annual Saint Joseph's Table

Viva San Giuseppe

The tradition of Saint Joseph's Table (Tavola di San Giuseppe) comes from Italy, where Saint Joseph is highly venerated. The Feast of Saint Joseph (La Festa di San Giuseppe), as you all know, is celebrated annually on March 19th. On this day, Sicilian-Italian American family tradition calls for a large feast to be served around an altar/shrine erected in the home to honor the Feast Day of Saint Joseph. Tradition also calls for asking Saint Joseph to intercede on behalf of the needs of a family or community. In times of great need, hardship or struggle, Italian families turn to the loving compassion of Saint Joseph and pray for his intercession. This March 16th, all COTI Knights and their families are invited to share food and fellowship at the 1st Annual Saint Joseph’s Table. The event will be held in the COTI Parish Hall following 4:00 Saturday Mass. Please come celebrate and enjoy traditional Italian Saint Joseph’s Table dishes and other Italian favorites. There is no charge for the meal, instead, attendees are asked to make a charitable offering to support struggling COTI Brother Knights and their families, spiritually and financially. Remember that Charity is the first and most important precept of our Order. Our Brother Knights freely give their time, treasure and talent to help others…let us now come together to support our own in need. Brother Knights, for the Good of The Order, if you are in serious need of support, please let me know. Please contact me at [email protected] or 505-379-8185.

All responses will be held in my confidence.

I am looking forward to seeing you on March 16th!

Viva la Tavola di San Giuseppe! Viva Gesù!

Council Prospect Landing Page - Supreme will build a custom Prospect Landing Page for your council that you can use on a phone, a tablet or a computer. You can ask potential members if they’re interested in learning more about the Knights, and you can enter their information into the form in a matter of seconds. They’ll immediately get a personalized email signed by you the grand knight, and encouraging them to join the Knights and reference your council by name and number. All you need to do is go to info.kofc.org/pagerequest. The form will also auto-generate an email to you, which will give you all of the information given for each person that signs up, and it will enroll them in an email marketing campaign that will help tell them more about the Knights and what we do over time (Don’t worry, they can unsubscribe at any time).

Council Social Media Account - (From Scott Pott, Program Manager, Faith Initiatives, Knights of Columbus ) - Is your council on social media? There’s never been a better time to start. What is the purpose of Corporate Communion?

From Assembly 3309 Worthy Color Corp Commander SK James Starr

Brother Knights, I have a question for all of you. What is the purpose of Corporate Communion? I ask this with great concern and to help clear up the misconceptions that I feel are out there with a great number of my Brother Knights. What do you think? Is this for the Color Guard to process and show off their uniforms and swords? Is this the purpose? Just a little history, the sacristans started off reserving several rows of pews for the Knights and their families, but no one would sit there. I recall looking back and no one, I mean no one, would be seated close enough to give the sign of peace. The last Corporate Communion, only the Color Corp and their wives were seated up front. Think about it! The 10:30 am Sunday Mass is by far the busiest Mass for our parish. And there we were, seven Knights in uniform, two Knights in suits, 4 wives, and no other Knights for several rows, I was so disheartened. SO, what is Corporate Communion? This is a time for ALL of us to come to together and show our Parish family who we are, how strong we are and how united we are. IT IS NOT about the Color Corp, NOT about the swords, not about uniforms. It is about you, me and our brother Knights being together for the highest moment of the week. Being at Mass and partaking of the feast of our Lord TOGETHER! I normally attend the 8 am Mass where I regularly serve as an acolyte and I will also attend the 10:30 Mass for Corporate Communion. I know we are all involved with different ministries at all the weekend Masses, I ask, once every three months will it hurt to attend two Masses in a weekend? I ask again what is Corporate Communion and is it possible for us to come together and show the unity to our Parish Family? So look at your calendars. If there is a fifth Sunday in a month, we are scheduled for Corporate Communion at the 10:30 am Mass. March 31st is the next fifth Sunday. I hope to see you there with name tags, vests, regalia, uniforms, council or assembly shirts. You. Me. Us. Family together! SK James Starr Color Corp Commander, Assembly 3309

Marian Prayer Program

The 2018-2019 Marian Prayer Program presents the 18th Marian image sponsored

by the Knights of Columbus, this time of Our Lady Help of Persecuted Christians.

Each Knights of Columbus jurisdiction receives several Marian images, which serve

as the centerpieces for prayer services conducted in churches and council meeting

places throughout the Order for the duration of the initiative. Since its inception in

1979, the Knights of Columbus’ Marian Prayer Program has held more than

166,900 local council and parish prayer services with some 20 million participants.

This year, the prayer service is intended to raise awareness of the plight of

Christians persecuted for their faith and to stand in prayerful solidarity with them.

Council 15199 will host the ICON October 5 – October 10, 2019.

Culture of Life From Brother Curt Kuper

Project Defending Life

O U R M I S S I O N Project Defending Life aims to help women address the challenges of pregnancies that cause them to abortion-vulnerable, to provide a chapel for prayer and contemplation for the pro-life community, and to provide support for peaceful, prayerful witness for life and activities such as Sidewalk Advocates, 40 Days for Life, etc. Project Defending Life is a Catholic-based ministry that answers the challenge of Pope John Paul II's encyclical, the Gospel of Life. We are committed to defending the sacredness of human life from conception to natural death, focused specifically on ending abortion. Our first priority is to give aid and comfort to abortion-vulnerable women in unplanned and crisis pregnancies, so that they ultimately choose life and carry their babies to term. We serve the greater Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas of Northern New Mexico, within the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, and collaborate with other pro-life efforts in the state of New Mexico and throughout the United States. O U R H I S T O R Y Since the landmark Supreme Court decision in 1973, pro-life advocates have worked and prayed to end the tragedy that is abortion. Albuquerque is known as “the abortion capitol of the Southwest,” for its unrestricted access to abortion services up to the day of birth. In the 1980s, Brother Mathias Barrett (founder of the Good Shepherd Center and the Barrett Home for unwed mothers) started a ministry to pray in front of abortion clinics. This ministry became known as “Project Life,” and was devoted to offering pregnant women help and alternatives to abortion. In 2006, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato revived the ministry and worked with a board of directors to rename and establish the ministry as Project Defending Life, a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about abortion and how it hurts women, as well as providing services to abortion-vulnerable women. Now located just 350 feet from Albuquerque’s Planned Parenthood facility and under new leadership, Project Defending Life has become a pro-life center that houses Women’s Pregnancy Options (a pregnancy resource center), the local chapter of Sidewalk Advocates for Life, and the Holy Innocents Chapel. O U R S O L U T I O N Generally a woman will choose to have an abortion to solve an underlying problem. Through our program, Women's Pregnancy Options, our goal is to help them solve that problem and choose life for their unborn baby. We do this by identifying their immediate needs, establishing goals to help redirect their focus and overcome mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual barriers, and advocating for self-confidence and Independence

NOW MORE THAN EVER

WILL YOU HELP US BUILD A CULTURE OF LIFE?

New Mexico House Democrats announced plans to repeal an existing abortion statute that would leave loopholes in NM state law allowing for the unregulated practice of elective abortion up-to-birth to continue. The bill does nothing to protect women, like Keisha Atkins who died at UNM Hospital during a dangerous late-term abortion at six months by Southwestern Women's Options in Albuquerque.

Your help is URGENTLY needed today. Consider making a donation on so we can fight back against this dangerous bill proposed by a handful of abortion extremists. Your secure online donation will help us continue to staff our organization and reach a greater audience in New Mexico. How many of your friends and family know that NM is the late-term abortion capital of the nation? This is why we need your financial support, to continue to build a culture of life. Think about it, the abortion industry hires staff to work around the clock in order to take innocent lives. Consider donating today so we can hire staff to support our mission in saving and protecting lives.

Your faith and conscience are under attack. What's even more alarming is the repeal would strike down conscience protections for health care providers and institutions from participating in an abortion. We warned our supporters of this attack against people of faith and conscience during the mid-term elections. This is why your help in defeating this extreme measure is needed today, more than ever. The abortion lobby has made significant gains in the NM Legislature by defeating numerous incumbents, especially in the Albuquerque area. Please consider investing in the work of NM Alliance for Life so we protect New Mexicans from this dangerous attack on people of faith and conscience-- as well as fight to preserve the sanctity of life.

Here are just a few examples of what your financial support has allowed us to do: ---RESULTS: Exposing and shutting down UNM's Ryan Residency training program at Southwestern Women's Options (SWO) late-term abortion business. ---INVESTIGATIONS: We were the first to expose the fetal tissue harvesting program at UNM after a six-month long investigation into partnerships between UNM and SWO. ---PARTNERSHIPS: NMAFL was the only organization to work directly with the Select Panel on Infant Lives to identify violations of state and federal law in UNM and Southwestern Women's Options fetal tissue harvesting program. Our tireless work with the Panel resulted in two Criminal Referrals. ---LEGISLATION: Through our investigative work and research, we have drafted groundbreaking legislation, including an infant born alive protection bill, after discovering UNM Hospital's policy of aborting infants who can survive outside the womb. ---MORE RESULTS: Our investigative work and media exposure led to UNM's leading fetal tissue researcher to be barred from ever conducting fetal tissue research again.

Your generous support has helped us to develop our investigative and research work to an unprecedented level

within the pro-life movement. Our legislative and policy strategies, along with our groundbreaking investigative work continue to gain momentum in NM. But we need your help now more than ever to reach our budget goals to

support a full-time staff. Here are a few ways we can work together to build a culture of life in New Mexico and beyond!

Pregnancy is normal, but the circumstances may not have been a part of the current plan. Care Net is here to help with that change of plans. Everyone deserves to know their options for a positive future. For a list of our free services click here. The Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque is a non-profit charity comprised of a group of local pregnancy resource centers in the Albuquerque metro area. We are affiliated with the national network of Care Net Pregnancy Centers. Our centers offer free and confidential services for women and girls in a safe and compassionate setting. From the initial pregnancy test and early limited medical care, throughout pregnancy and far beyond, Care Net offers a varied menu of free services for the whole family. Little or no waiting time is required. Appointments can be made for the same day or the next working day. There are no eligibility requirements and anyone is welcome. Send an appointment request here.

Pregnancy options consist of three choices: parenting, placing a child for adoption or elective termination (abortion). Each of these options have a subset of choices. Each choice has both short and lifelong consequences. It is important that everyone be fully aware of these consequences before making a decision. No one should be hurried, coerced, pressured or forced into a pregnancy decision. It is important to know that several studies have shown over 80% of women electing abortion have stated that they were coerced or pressured into that decision. This pressure usually came from someone who financially benefited from the termination of the pregnancy. Since Care Net does not want to profit from pregnancy decisions, we offer all of our pregnancy related services free of charge. Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque is an interdenominational faith based (Christian), non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization, with a local board of directors, a paid supervisory staff, and hundreds of volunteers. We are locally funded by individual and community donations. Our centers do not use government funding. All of the professional and medical staff/volunteers are licensed in NM for the services which they provide. Everyone working or volunteering at Care Net signs a code of moral conduct and statement of faith. We have centers in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, Moriarty and a Medical Mobile Unit which travels the Albuquerque area

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more

closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant

prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We

Knight’s Prayer

Our Lady, Queen of the Knights, bless all the activities of our Order. Keep us true to our pledge, to extend the

kingship of thy divine son on earth. Through Thine intercession, win for us the grace, ever to exemplify in our public and private lives, the virtues that

should characterize those especially dedicated to the service of the heavenly court. Make us always aware that

as your Knights, we are constantly observed, our faith judged, and our Order appreciated.

Accept, O Mary, this renewed pledge of fealty and devotion, of Thy Servants, the Knights of Columbus.
