This past Wednesday night was a historic time in the game of Baseball because the Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time in 108 years! Cubs fans are experiencing a sense of vindication and Indians fans are feeling a sense of despair. As they picked up wins along their journey to victory, two different groups of people emerged.
One group is considered to be diehard fans. They’re individuals who have been following the Cubs since childhood, despite such a long wait for championship status. The other group is considered to be bandwagon fans. They have recently jumped on board because things were going well and they saw potential.
We have actually been discussing this very thing in our youth class in connection to being disciples of Jesus. Kyle Idleman, in his book Not A Fan, describes two kinds of Christians. He says that there are Fans: Those who sit in the stands and cheer occasionally for Jesus when things are going great. And then there are Followers: Those who are completely committed to Jesus no matter the circumstances.
As I start to consider more about Jesus’s call on my life, I wonder if I fit into the group of bandwagon fans more than I do committed followers. Jesus said in Luke 9:23 - “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” A lifestyle that requires denying myself things and bearing burdens for God’s glory doesn’t sound appealing to most people.
The difference in commitment comes down to perspective. In the next verse Jesus goes on to say: “For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.” Christians who are fully devoted to Jesus know that sacrifice and inconvenience are worth it for the victory we have through Jesus Christ.
So be honest with yourself about your relationship with Jesus today:
Are you simply a fan of Jesus or are you truly a follower of Jesus?
For His Glory, Blake McCaskill

CARING FOR CHINA’S ORPHANS CHANGING LIVES SINCE 1995
Caring for China’s Orphans, PO Box 210003, Nashville, TN 37221 (615)668-8159
Team China 2016 July 2016 marked our 37th trip to China to aid orphans. The trip was packed with orphan work, touring the country, new friendships made and most importantly, touring and work-ing in a new orphanage in desperate need. Our volunteers held babies, cleaned, un-packed supplies, experienced new sites and foods and so much more! We are thankful we have been able to continue this work for 21 years.
www.caringforchinasorphans.org Fall 2016
Members of Team China 2016 unpacking sup-plies including diapers, at one of our partner or-phanages. Look inside for more images of this amazing trip.
If CfCO could only show you pictures of healthy smiling babies, it would. The reality is that we serve a mix of children in a range of orphanages. Last spring we received a call from a friend on the ground in China about an or-phanage in Shanxi in desperate need of food, water, and basic necessities such as diapers.
When Jeannie traveled to China over the sum-mer she made a detour to this previously un-known orphanage . What she saw was difficult even for this veteran of working with children.
CfCO has taken on the support of basic items for this new orphanage which spreads our re-sources even thinner and makes our fundraising efforts even more important. We will continue to update you on the situation in our new or-phanage. For now, however, we want to THANK each of you who heeded the call in the Spring when we raised emergency money for this new endeavor. To continue to give, visit our website at www.caringforchinasorphans.org.

BEIJING KUNMING SHIZONG. Do those exotic names bring dreams of far away plac-es? Does the idea of serving children in a Chinese orphanage make your heart swell? Do you love to travel and experience new things? If you answer yes to these questions then this trip is for you.

What Can You Do?
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” - M. Mead
We are frequently asked by groups and indi-viduals what they can do to help us help oth-ers. Truthfully, in the past it has been some-times difficult to navigate as CfCO is so small. But, we are in a place to welcome help and know that our children depend upon the village, no matter how far away from China, to come together to do this important work. Visit our website to see how individuals and groups can support our work in China.

Brooke Gowder, Mt. Juliet, TN who gra-ciously requested donations for the orphans served by CfCO in lieu of birthday gifts for her birthday.
We could not do it without you!

THANKS “Dear Bellevue Family, On behalf of our family, we want to thank this congregation for the flower arrangement, the many cards, the kind words and your visits during the recent loss of my father, Ewing Neelley. Most of all, we appreciate that you have remembered us in your prayers during this difficult time. We are so blessed to be a part of a congregation that cares about those who are hurting, and also channels those feelings into loving acts of kindness. That is what a church family is all about and Bellevue is the best. Again, thank you and may God bless each and every member of this church.”
Jim and Dana Neelley
“Dearest Friends, Thank you so much for the beautiful white cut flowers. Mom (Ruth Howell) loved her church family at Bellevue. My sister and I appreciate all the cards, visits and comfort you have given her.”

“In his most recent newsletter, Charles Caudill, president of World Christian Broadcasting, wrote “There are some three billion shortwave receivers in use today around the world. It has been determined that at any given moment, at least one billion receivers are turned on and some three billion souls are listening. That means we have the potential of reaching three billion people at any moment during the day.” Through the contribution last Sunday, WCB raised $13,847 and more is coming in. Your support ensures the continued success of reaching those 3 billion people who desperately need the Gospel.”
