In previous years it has been a mammoth effort to secure sponsors to cover this event’s expenses but this year QAS has covered all expenses and recovered enough to pour back into the QAS Gallery needs. Over the nine days the Society succeeded in 'selling' QAS and moving a record number of works for this event in the ‘Heart of Canberra’ ‘Heart of Canberra’ over Canberra's Floriade. A BIG THANKS A BIG THANKS

TTHANK you Stall Holders from Queanbeyan Art Society for your participation in our inaugural market in City Walk, Canberra. It was great to meet you all, thanks very much for your efforts, and to see your products and the care with which you presented your products and stall. There were amazingly unique goods in your stalls. Thanks for the posts you made on Facebook and Instagram. Glad you liked the live music in the first week-end especially. We had the Queanbeyan Pipes and Drums and they drew a big crowd very quickly. City Walk was beautiful. We had pleasing interest from the City Renewal/Activation people who came along to see what was offered, view our art interactive activity and give us the deckchairs etc, relax and take part. The deck-chairs were very popular as the Spring weather encour-aged people to slow down in City Walk and there was a letter to the Editor of Canberra times on Saturday asking where they had gone. We returned them, hope some-one puts them put regularly now and creates some new life in the space. It's a prefect space for market stalls. We know that some stalls had pleasing sales and others not as much and we wish everyone had had a great result. Thanks Dave Metal guy for saying, it takes a while for people to see what's there! WWHAT a wonderful 12th Annual Art Show and Market in City Walk, Canberra over

nine days of the Canberra Floriade, but my palette is not large enough to thank everyone. Your committee was courageous to ‘tackle’ such an event of this magnitude. The inclusion of the market stalls added to the work load but they boosted the finances to help cover the expenses. RosannaRosanna, Nyree Nyree and Rachel Rachel managed to get this part of the show on the road while BelindaBelinda managed the Art Show ‘office’. Of course if one does not think there are many numbers to add up for a successful event ask treasurer DeeDee. Sorry if I failed to name all but a special thanks to our members who responded to enter and made it the most successful ‘Art in the Heart of Canberra’ ‘Art in the Heart of Canberra’ ever! What a Double Header it was for QAS to hold the inaugural ADFAS Young Artist Art Competition/Exhibition. A huge thanks to ADFAS for their $1,000 sponsorship. This was a most successful Exhibition and it looks to have a bright future.

It was a very good opening and well attended and will hang for the month of October. The committee have been

too busy to hold a monthly committee meeting!
