Year 2 Visit Gunnersbury Park Museum

When we went to Gunnersbury Park Museum Year 2

got to act out the Great Fire of London. I got to act

out throwing the water and making a crackling sound.

After we had a nice big lunch. We also met Florence

Nightingale’s family. I got to dress up as Florence’s

sister. Each class had great fun. We all learnt lots more

about Florence Nightingale and the Great Fire of

London.

The Fiver Challenge

A few weeks after we returned from Assisi, the school

signed Year 6 up to a maths competition called “the fiver

challenge”. We split into groups of between 2 and 5 and

we had to create our own business from scratch. The task

that was set was to start with £5 and set up our very own

business. We made our own company name and then had

to buy products to sell later for a greater price. It was

great fun trying to sell our products to friends and family

but then we had to get ready for the special market place

day at school. It was difficult to decide how much stock to

buy as we wanted to make as much profit as possible but

luckily we got it just right. Our team raised money for

Cancer Research but it was up to us to decide what we

spent our profit on! It was a really fun project to end Year

6 with and certainly gave us an insight into how we could

set up our own business in the future. We learnt that the

more we worked the more money we made.

Key Stage 1 Sports Day

Sports Day was great fun! We did lots of exciting

races. Everyone had a good time, especially the

grown ups! The bat and ball and the hurdles races

were our favourites. We all tried our best and

supported each other.

In the parent race most of the grown ups cheated!

They didn’t put on the builders jacket and they didn’t

balance the beanbag properly on their heads. The

children all cheered and really enjoyed the day!

Whole Food Project

This term a group of Year 4 pupils took part in the School to Market project organised by the WholeFoods

and run by Mrs Danilowicz. It involved a proper cooking Masterclass led by a professional chef; a trip to the

farm in Surrey where children learned how to pick organic fruits and vegetables; making (yes, making from

scratch!) their own chutneys; and finally selling them at our School’s Summer Fair and the Whole Foods

Market in Fulham Broadway. All these added up to a very valuable experience of learning lots of new skills -

cooking, marketing, selling and many more! And your children have absolutely excelled in this!

‘At the Masterclass, that took

place in a secondary school, we

made beetroot, onion and apple

chutneys. I liked smelling

different spices and tasting

different chutneys. It was an

excellent opportunity.’

Sofia Ballarati, Class 4B

‘In this photo we are doing a

Marketing Workshop at the Fulham

Broadway Market. We learnt how to

estimate cost and what ingredients we

would need to get from the farm.

Cohen Murphy, Class 4B

‘I felt like a grown-up

going to Tesco to buy

extra ingredients such

as vinegar, sugar and

spices. We spent £36

but before we paid

we had to estimate

the total. That was

challenging but fun!’

‘It was an absolutely amazing

experience to go to the Crockford

Bridge farm as we were allowed to

pick fruit and vegetables. We also

had an ice-cream. Did you know that

the rhubarb’s leaves are poisonous so

they need to be removed?’

Raphaela West, Class 4G

‘The best part was tasting the

chutneys we made with

Mrs Danilowicz and Mrs Fee. I liked

the ‘Apple and Rhubarb’ chutney

best. But we made three types of

chutneys.’

Nathnaiel Kebede, Class 4G

‘I was the best at grating the

beetroot! I made a huge pile that

overflowed the bowl. We had great

fun cooking and I will always

remember to wear gloves when I

work with beetroots.’

Micaele Taye Zegeye, Class 4B

‘I have thoroughly

enjoyed working with

the children on this

particular project.

There was a lot of

maths involved too:

weighing, estimating

and using ratio in

our recipes.’ And the

chutneys your

children made were

absolutely delicious.’

Mrs Danilowicz

‘Here are Year 5

pupils helping their

younger friends to

peel, cook and

sterilise jars.’

Isadora Clay, Class 4G

‘I liked making chutneys and my

favourite one was ‘Apple, beetroot

and ginger’. We were allowed to

design labels and decorate the lids

with fabric.’

Zoe Rainone, Class 4B

‘Can you believe we have made

nearly 60 jars of chutney? We

used in total 32kg of different

vegetables, 8 bottles of malt

vinegar and lots of spices including

ginger, garlic, allspice and

Moroccan spice. I love cooking!’

Year 4 Summer Show - The Big Fish

Year 4 performed The Big Fish this term. It was really

exciting using such creative props and the enormous

whale was a triumph! We told the story of Jonah and

the Whale by re-enacting the scenes and telling the

story through drama, singing and dance. Our favourite

dance was ‘The Deep Sea Blues’ because we both

starred in it! We have done lots of dance this year and

it really showed in our performance. Our parents

thought that the show was amazing and our teachers

agreed.
