In the fall of 2015 Two UNT Sociology students, Leslie Davila, working toward her BS in Sociology and Integrative studies and Ian Ambrose, working toward his BA in Sociology, were named Student Ambassadors for the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). CAS Ambassadors are the un-dergraduate student representatives from each department in the College of Arts and Science at the University of North Texas. The Ambassadors work with the college and the departments to give an undergraduate stu-dent's perspective on various subjects including but not limited to, work load, courses, student activities and organizations, and campus life.

The Department of Sociology and the College of Arts and Sciences pro-vided support to graduate students in order to help graduate students presenting at professional conferences. Students who qualify for this support must be in good academic standing. In the Fall of 2015 three students from the sociology department received these awards. Maria Erini Pa-padouka in order to attend the American Society of Criminology in Washington D.C.; Giselle C.M. Greenridge, in order to attend the Mid-South Sociological asso-ciation meeting in Lafayette, LA; and Shanae Jefferies in order to attend the Black Doctoral Network Conference in At-lanta, GA.
