Foundations Welcome back to a new school year. In this first newsletter of 2016-17 and with all the building work feverishly taking place around us, I thought it timely to focus on the foundations that make our school so unique and so successful.

The photo on the front is of one of the foundations of the Sports Hall as it looked last July. I considered the work of the four steel bolts, now hidden from view, who work hard to hold up the visible structure. As a Catholic school we set all our work upon firm foundations of Faith alongside the other important foundations that help us do our work in shaping, alongside parents, happy, healthy, resilient young people who are, in turn, given strong foundations on which they can build fulfilled, happy and successful lives.

Firm foundations provide an

unshakeable bedrock in a rapidly changing world. Firm foundations also

underpin the way we build our school community too.

Our community is built upon setting;

Strong physical foundations ,

Strong cognitive foundations,

Strong relationship foundations

and Strong spiritual foundations.

Becket’s is, I believe, unique and distinctive amongst other schools including Catholic schools and I would like to thank you all for the support that you offer to all staff in their vital work.
