We hope all our families have an enjoyable and productive term. Reports came home at the end of the term. Please keep in mind that a C grade is where children are meant to be if they are working at the appropriate level for their year level. If you have any questions or concerns relating to your child / children’s reports please don’t hesitate to make a time with the relevant teachers. Over the next term we have quite a few of our teachers and administration staff on leave for a variety of reasons. We will endeavour to keep you informed of the changes especially to classroom teachers. Where possible relief teachers are known to the school and children. Coming up this term is our Athon, Book Week, a Show Day and a Pupil Free Day. Please keep an eye on the calendar included in this newsletter for when events are. The calendar is also on our web site. The Book Week Parade will be held on Monday the 20 th of August and this year’s theme is “Find Your Treasure”. As the parade is a significant highlight for the week it is a good opportunity to start thinking about costumes now. Spotlight and some of the cheap shops are often good sources for reasonably priced costumes. During the term we will also be conducting a trial for NAPLAN online and the year 1 phonics screening check tests for all year 1 students. This term we will also be doing our usual surveys and we will keep you informed as to when this is happening. We really appreciate the support we get from our community filling these in. Clear the Yard Bell At the end of the day at 3.15pm we will be sounding a clear the yard bell and locking the gates. This practice already happens with the oval gates. The bell signifies to parents and students it is time to leave the grounds and lets OSHC know that they may now use the yard and playgrounds. We thank you for your support with this import Work Health and Safety issue. Car Parks Inappropriate behaviour in the carparks continues to be a safety concern. Please do not walk through or encourage children to walk through carpark entrances and the actual carpark. Please use paths and pedestrian gates. Also it is extremely dangerous to use the staff carpark as a turning zone as well as restricting access for staff to enter the school. From the Principal Katherine Holman

Welcome back to Term 3. We trust you had an enjoyable

holiday break and found some time to enjoy not having

school routines and timelines. Welcome to our 7 new

students that started this week and their families. We hope

all our families have an enjoyable and productive term.

Reports came home at the end of the term. Please keep in

mind that a C grade is where children are meant to be if

they are working at the appropriate level for their year

level. If you have any questions or concerns relating to your

child / children’s reports please don’t hesitate to make a

time with the relevant teachers.

Over the next term we have quite a few of our teachers and

administration staff on leave for a variety of reasons. We

will endeavour to keep you informed of the changes

especially to classroom teachers. Where possible relief

teachers are known to the school and children.

Coming up this term is our Athon, Book Week, a Show

Day and a Pupil Free Day. Please keep an eye on the

calendar included in this newsletter for when events are.

The calendar is also on our web site. The Book Week

Parade will be held on Monday the 20th of August and this

year’s theme is “Find Your Treasure”. As the parade is a

significant highlight for the week it is a good opportunity to

start thinking about costumes now. Spotlight and some of

the cheap shops are often good sources for reasonably

priced costumes.

During the term we will also be conducting a trial for

NAPLAN online and the year 1 phonics screening check

tests for all year 1 students.

This term we will also be doing our usual surveys and we

will keep you informed as to when this is happening. We

really appreciate the support we get from our community

filling these in.

Clear the Yard Bell

At the end of the day at 3.15pm we will be sounding a

clear the yard bell and locking the gates. This practice

already happens with the oval gates. The bell signifies to

parents and students it is time to leave the grounds and

lets OSHC know that they may now use the yard and

playgrounds. We thank you for your support with this

import Work Health and Safety issue.

Car Parks

Inappropriate behaviour in the carparks continues to be a

safety concern. Please do not walk through or encourage

children to walk through carpark entrances and the actual

carpark. Please use paths and pedestrian gates. Also it is

extremely dangerous to use the staff carpark as a turning

zone as well as restricting access for staff to enter the

school.

The Scout Hall next to the staff carpark has parks available

and allows room to turn around. Handicap parks are only to

be used by those people who have a permit.

Well being and safety is everyone’s business and

responsibility and we ask for your cooperation in this

matter.

SCHOOL UNIFORM - Leadership SCHOOL UNIFORM REMINDERS

As the weather gets colder we are seeing a number of ‘non

school uniform’ jumpers and jackets in the yard. It is ok to

have a jacket or parka that isn’t navy but it can only be

worn to and from school and needs to be removed when

children arrive. Therefore it is very important that students

have navy jumpers or jackets for the yard / or wear a white

or navy long sleeve top under their school t-shirt to keep

warm. Teachers will remind students and contact parents if

needed. There are spare school jumpers in the office if

children are cold or need to borrow one for the day – these

just need to be returned.

We are seeing a number of students wearing black tracksuit

pants and leggings, colourful hair bows, jewellery and

makeup – all of which are not part of the uniform policy.

Teachers will be reminding them about the school uniform

in classes daily.

Just a few reminders:

- No denim or black tracksuit pants, jumpers,

jackets or leggings

- The only acceptable jewellery is the wearing of

small studs, sleepers and watches

- NO MAKEUP or Nail polish of any description.

Students will be reminded and then asked to

remove it at the office if it continues

- School hair accessories must be navy or white

- PLEASE PUT NAMES on students jumpers and

jackets – everything that comes to lost property is

returned if names are on items

Fathers day 2018- Sheree Short & Cassie O’Brien Fathers day is fast approaching and once again we would

love your support. We rely heavily on donations from our

school community to make our stall a continued success.

Whilst any donation is greatly appreciated we would love

blocks of chocolates, chocolate biscuits, lollies, cans of soft

drink as well as any other gift suitable for men. The more

donations we receive, the more wonderful items the kids

can purchase and we can all help to raise funds for the

school. All donations can be dropped into the front office.

Your local Neighbourhood Watch Group meets regularly at

Salisbury Heights Primary School.

Please join our next meeting on Tuesday 7th

August, 2018

at 7.30pm for 1 hour to discuss safety concerns in our

People Who Help us in the

Community

Rooms 1, 3 and 4

This term our reception classes have been learning about people

that help us in the community. We have been very lucky and had

visits from firefighters, police officers and nurses. In week 9 the

classes celebrated with a ‘P Day.’ All the students and teachers

dressed up as people in the community and shared a pizza lunch.

Throughout the day students participated in different activities

and role plays. Everyone had a fun day and looked amazing.
