NEWSLETTER ~ TERM 3 - No. 3 ~ 10 August 2017
FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK—Aaron Richards LOTS TO DO ON WET DAYS The wet weather has not dampened our ability to
keep children busy at playtime. This week Fr John
Adams started a Table Tennis Club in the school
hall. This will take place every Wednesday at
12.45pm. Unfortunately we have had to limit the
numbers of children who participate because of the
limited space and tables available. Not to worry as
there are other options available for children.
Chess Club continues this term. Numbers have
swelled so Chess Club now runs on both Tuesday
and Wednesday. The Year 1-3 students have started
a tournament on the Tuesday. This is followed with
the Year 4-8 tournament on Wednesdays.
We can’t forget the Coding Club that takes place
each Thursday in Cremin 1. Mr Scully has told me
that things are going well with most children
quickly picking up the coding basics.
ENROLMENTS 2018 - REMINDER Enrolments for 2018 close on 30 September. If you,
or someone you know, is intending to enrol their
children at St Joseph’s School next year, please
ensure enrolments are submitted on time.
Enrolments are very strong for 2018 so please do
not miss the deadline.
It is never too early to pre-enroll a younger sibling.
If the number of preference enrolments is too high
in any category then places are awarded in
accordance to the date the pre enrolment application
was received. So getting in early will increase the
chances of acceptance.
SCHOOL REPORTS AND STUDENT-LED CONFERENCE
A huge thanks to all the parents and caregivers who
took the time to come in and celebrate their
children’s learning with them. As I moved around
the classrooms I witnessed many fantastic
conversations between parents and children. I was
suitably impressed by the way that children were
able to articulate the learning that had taken place
and the improvements they have made this year.
As St Joseph’s School is committed to ongoing
improvement, we will be seeking feedback with
regard to the Student-led Conferences in the
upcoming Community Survey. In the survey we seek
to identify the strengths of the process as well as
identify how we can enhance the event even more for
parents and children.
ROAD SAFETY
A huge thanks to the motorists who have been
working with us over the last week to make Vagues
Road safer for students coming and going from
school. The congestion at the gate has decreased. The
flow of traffic at the drop off area has been smooth
and there has been a decrease in cars u-turning in
front of the road patrol.
I really appreciate parent co-operation with this
issue.
NEW ENTRANTS We welcome Novia Day and Caleb Rueddenklau who started in our New Entrants class this week.
