Karamata Fundraiser

Last term, as part of the 'taking action' phase of Tui’s Kiwi inquiry, Tui planned and planted a number of Treasure Hunts for Year 0 - 2 children to have fun with.

The children were asked to bring a gold coin donation which we were able to lay as a coin trail. In total we raised $172 for the Kiwis for Kiwi organisation based in Arthurs Pass.

Thank you. You will be pleased to know that Karamata

raised $1785.80, all of which is to be donated to

the spinal unit at Burwood Hospital.

Kia ora Whanau, 3 ½ weeks left on the countdown to year end. This week’s newsletter gives a few more details about end of year events and a little more of a run down of events at the beginning of 2021.

Transition Visits to 2021 ClassesWe are currently finalising staffing for 2021 and will begin to ensure class placements for children are as expected. In the next week, if there is any unexpected change for your child, you will be contacted by phone to discuss this. All children will visit their new 2021 classrooms for two short visits in the last two weeks of school. These will be held on Tuesday 8 December and Monday 14 December.

Week 1 2021:

Tuesday 2 February and Wednesday 3 February - Start up meetings - In 2021 these meetings will require parents and children to attend school together for a 45-50 minute meeting. Alongside meeting with your child’s teacher there will be some KEY and NEW information sharing points that you as parents will need to engage with at this point. Sign up for these meetings will be available for you from Wednesday 9 December.

Wednesday 3 February - All Year 6 students are required at school from 9.00am for the full day - there will be some leadership training and some out of school team building activity on this day. More information on this will be provided to your children at their transition meeting

Thursday 4 FebruaryWe are running a full day of Citizen21 Safeguarding children and adults online seminars with expert John Parsons. John is a very busy man and we have had him booked for this work around cyber safety for nearly a year so we are looking forward to him working with children, staff and parents over this day. We will be running an evening parent session and possibly one during the day as well. Please put this date in your diary. It is your child’s first full day at school. Here is a link to John’s website so you can get an idea of his expertise and the learning he will be sharing.

Our PTA is still working to connect our community. This time, next Friday 4 December, they will be preparing our Christmas Fair which runs from 3pm-6pm. Bring the family down for a couple of hours of Christmas fun and gift shopping.

I am on the small baby care for my whanau this weekend - will be back at school for a rest I think. Don’t get crushed in the Black Friday sales this weekend.

See you all next week.
