GOVERNING COUNCIL-SUPER HERO DISCO On Friday the 23rd of August, Governing Council held our Superhero disco. It was

an outstanding end to Book Week and dress up day. We would like to thank all

parents, carers and staff for their help on the night and of course the wonderful DJ

Harro for his awesome tunes! We had a fantastic turn out and it was great to see our

school values on display.

MARION HOLIDAY PARK CAMP (LOCAL) It was an amazing experience for everyone! It felt like going camping with your family. When

we arrived we set up our swag/tent. I shared my swag with Maddie and on the second day

Maddie and I slept in, our friends (Aleesha & Prizcilla) had to wake us up! The activities we did

at this amazing holiday park involved bouncing on an inflatable cushion, playing in the park,

swimming in either a heated or a big freezing pool. There was the most amazing water slide, that

when you slid down it at the bottom you got a mouth full of icy cold water from screaming. The

adrenaline you get from sliding down it the first time was amazing, I would recommend going

down with your friends. The holiday park also had a

large arcade room with many different games and a

basketball ring that everyone played on. On this

camp we went bowling and every one played like a

pro. When we finished we had dinner and then we

went to the movies. We watched the new non-

animated Aladdin. The next day Mrs Foot gave us

options. The options were touch footy, the museum

or the shops. I chose to go to the shops and the thing

that was most popular was Bubble Tea. On the last

day we learnt how to weave a basket and we went on a nature walk with a guide. We walked past

leaves and she said if you eat them it will stop you from needing to pee (not forever) and will

keep you hydrated. Everyone grabbed a bunch!. It was so much fun I wish it could have lasted

longer. I appreciate Mrs Foot and the other teacher/carers for looking after us and showing us a

good time. Teliah

GIRLS SAPSASA SOCCER

Victor Harbor R-7 had three students represent our

district, Southern Fleurieu for SAPSASA soccer held

in week 8.

The tournament was a 4 day long competition held at

West Beach, Adelaide. Anabelle, Heidi and Savanah

were an integral part of the team, playing their posi-

tions with confidence and style. Heidi was among our

best defenders, Savannah tore up the midfield scoring

an important penalty while Annabel proved her

versatility playing as a striker, midfielder and

defender.

The girls were leaders on the field, showing resilience,

respect and competitiveness. Southern Fleurieu fin-

ished 5th overall out of 9 teams. A massive thankyou

to the parents and friends for their support and com-

mitment

getting the girls to trainings and the

tournament. Steve Manners

READERS RAP

Congratulations to all of the 18 students who

competed in the 2019 Readers Rap

competition at Port Elliot

Primary School. The expectation for this

competition is that they will successfully

complete reading 2 novels, one picture book

and watch a movie. On the day the students

are in teams of 3-4, answering questions

about these books and the movie. With 24

teams competing from 6 schools it was im-

pressive that 4 of our 5 teams came in the top

10. Teacher in charge- Emma Foot

Congratulations to Olivia who has been selected to play golf in the School

Sport Interstate under 12 golf championships in Toowoomba Queensland in

November. Only 4 girls are chosen to represent the state.

The staff and students of Victor Harbor R-7 School wish Olivia all the best.

Every year many of our students from Reception to year 7 enter the Mayors’ Short Story

Creative Writing Competition. It is a great community event and encourages some very creative

and inspiring writing. This year we had over 200 entries! It is fantastic to see that our school is

full of so many wonderful writers. Four of our students were lucky enough to get short listed,

Hannah (Year 2), Daniel (Year 2), Chloe (Year 3) and Tilda (Year 4). Daniel and Chloe were

the overall winners of their section.

Congratulations to all our Mayors’ Short Story Competition winners! A fantastic achievement!
